Why you Need an Evony Monster General

If you want to grow quickly in Evony, having one of the best Evony Monster Hunting Generals is vital. These generals are focused on using mounted troops due to their high attack stat and the way that boss battle mechanics work.

Depending on your requirements, there are two key roles a monster-hunting general can play.

Evony Monster Hunter General

A monster-hunting general is designed to take down high-powered monsters on the world map. They focus everything on a high-mounted attack. A typical Skill Book setup would be as follows:

  • Lvl 4 Mounted Troop Attack Against Monster – Mounted Troop Attack Against Monster +45%
  • Lvl 4 Mounted Troop Attack – Mounted Troop Attack +25%
  • Lvl 4 March Size – March Size +12%
Hannibal Evony Monster Hunter General

This will ensure the general is able to do maximum damage on the first hit to ensure the monster cannot retaliate and therefore minimize losses.

Evony Monster Looter

In contrast to the Evony Monster Hunter General, the Looter General is focused on increasing the double drop rate of items from monsters.

You should always use one of these generals when joining rallies or when attacking lower-powered monsters. A typical Skill Book set up for one of the Best Evony Monster Looting Generals may be as follows:

  • Lvl 4 Mounted Troop Attack – Mounted Attack +25%
  • Lvl 4 Luck – Double Items Drop Rate +18%
  • Lvl 4 March Size – March Size +12%
Aethelflaed Evony Monster Looting General

This will ensure that you maximize the number of items you are looting from Boss Monsters and Event Monsters whilst also being able to defeat some monsters if you are the rally leader. This is a great way to build up your stock of resource boxes and speedup boxes.

Evony Boss Monster Battle Mechanics

Evony Typhon

Evony Boss Monster and Event Monster Battles take place using a turn-based mechanism. The player is always the first to attack, with the monster then retaliating if it is still alive.

If you send more than one tier of mounted troops, the highest tier will attack in Turn 1, with the boss then retaliating against the same tier. Each turn the battle continues it moves down the tiers and then starts again from the top.

If the player has 10% of its troops wounded then the battle is over and they lose.

Best Evony Monster Killing Generals

There are 5 Ranks in this Tier list – S, A, B, C and F. Generals in Rank S are the best, and Generals in Rank F are the worst.

This list assumes that you plan to optimize Skill Books for a mounted march and that you will maximize the mounted specialties. Only Gold Historic Generals are included.

Evony Monster Looter General Tier List

Best Evony Monster Looter Generals

The generals in this list look to maximize the Double Item Drop Rate. There are only a few generals that possess this skill.

At the top of the list are the generals with the highest Double Item Drop Rate once all specialties have been maximized. At the bottom are the generals with the lowest Double Item Drop Rate once all specialties have been maximized. This includes Purple and Gold Historic Generals.

Level 4 Skill Books should also be applied where possible. Read our Evony Skill Book Guide for more details on adding Skill Books to Generals.

In addition, Generals with other useful monster looting attributes are also included and noted where applicable. For example, high march speed or reduced stamina cost.

Best Monster Looter Generals

  • Skill = Double Item Drop Rate from base General Skill
  • Special = Double Item Drop Rate from maximized General Skill Specializations
  • Book = Double Item Drop Rate from Luck Skill Book
  • Total = Total Double Item Drop Rate from Skill, Specialization, and Book. This can be increased further with equipment.

  2. Nathanael Greene is included, as although Double Item Drop Rate is low, his base skill reduces stamina cost by 25%. This is very useful when joining many rallies.
  3. Seleucus I is included, as although Double Item Drop Rate is low, his base skill allows him to march very quickly. This is useful when joining many rallies.
  4. Maria Theresa is included, as although Double Item Drop Rate is low, his base skill reduces stamina cost by 20%. This is very useful when joining many rallies.

    1. Hi Sharp, thanks for your comment. She makes a great general for looting. Put a luck skill book on her and she can have the highest double item drop rate in the game. I have included her in the Monster Looting section. Adding mounted attack skill books will also make her effective for killing tough monsters.

      She is currently only available to newer servers so I haven’t added her to all tier lists yet. However, I will work on getting her added soon!

  4. What’s the thought on gear for Monster Looters? I’m thinking Fearless King’s Ring, and Courageous King’s Boots. Am I missing anything in my thinking?
