Is Gwanggaeto the Great a good general in Evony?

Gwanggaeto the Great is a great ranged PvP general to choose if you have not yet got your hands on one of the S Ranked generals. His ranged attack adds up to a deadly 91% from just skill books and specializations.

He also has some good siege skills allowing you to mix in more troop types for a potent PvP march. Indeed, if you do not max the final specialization, then Gwanggaeto the Great becomes one of the best-ranged PvP generals in the A rank.

Gwanggaeto the Great – Special Skill

Gwanggaeto-taewang

Increases your ranged troops and siege machines’ attack by 20%.

Ascended Special Skill Buffs

Below are the additional buffs that an ascended Gwanggaeto the Great will receive to his Special Skill for each ascended star level.

• 1 Star – Ranged Troop and Siege Machine Defense +5% and HP +10%.
• 2 Star – Increases Troop Death into Wounded Rate by 8% when General is leading the army to attack.
• 3 Star – March Size Capacity +10%.
• 4 Star – Ranged Troop and Siege Machine Defense +10% and HP +10%.
• 5 Star – Ranged Troop and Siege Machine Attack +10%.

Gwanggaeto the Great – Builds

The below builds outline which skill books and equipment refines you should use depending on your requirements.

Ranged PvP

This build is ideal for players who are very range heavy. It sacrifices everything in favor of ranged attack whilst also topping up ranged troop HP and Defense via equipment refines.

This build will ensure you do maximum damage, especially in the early game when players are quite mounted heavy. You can alternatively swap March Size for Ranged Troop HP if you want to give your Ranged troops a bit more durability.

• Lvl 4 Ranged Troop Range Bonus – Ranged Troop Range +100
• Lvl 4 March Size – March Size +12%
• Equipment Refines:
• Bow – Ranged Troop Attack % x4

• Boots – Ranged Troop Defense % x4
• Helmet – Ranged Troop HP % x4
• Leg Armor – Ranged Troop HP % x4
• Ring – Ranged Troop Attack % x4

Siege and Ranged PvP

If you like and can afford, to mix in some siege to your march then this is the build for you. It still assumes you are more range heavy, given Gwanggaeto the Great’s skills, however, it also gives your siege troops a boost to their range.

Siege range is prioritized over siege attack as siege attack is already very high with the additional range giving you some extra attacks before the enemy has you in their range.
