Is Roland a good general in Evony?

Once fully leveled, and specializations maxed out, Roland has one of the highest mounted attacks against monsters and other players. His special skill is also highly specialized with his mounted attack, defense, and HP all getting a massive boost right from level 1.

This makes him a great option if you can get your hands on him. Indeed, if you do not plan to maximize the final specialization, due to cost, then Roland gains a slight advantage over Hannibal who currently sits above him in the rankings.

Roland – Special Skill

An Evony General’s Special Skill is always active and requires no development. Read the description carefully to ensure it is having the impact that you expect.

Glory Knight

Increases mounted troops’ attack by 30% and increases mounted troops’ defense and HP by 15% when General is leading the army to attack.

Ascended Special Skill Buffs

Below are the additional buffs that an ascended Roland will receive to his Special Skill for each ascended star level.

• 1 Star – Marching Mounted Troop Attack +15%.
• 2 Star – Increases Troop Death into Wounded Rate by 8% when General is leading the army to attack.
• 3 Star – March Size Capacity +10%.
• 4 Star – Marching Mounted troop HP and Defense +25%.
• 5 Star – Marching Mounted Troop Attack, HP and Defense +15%.

Roland – Specialities

These skills are unlocked once the Evony General reaches level 25. They can be expensive to develop, requiring Gems and Runestones. Read our Evony General Guide for more details.

The below builds outline which skill books and equipment refines you should use depending on your requirements.

Big Prey Hunter

This build is ideal for players who are looking to take down big monster prey. It sacrifices everything in favor of mounted attack and mounted HP via equipment refines and skill books.

This build will ensure you do maximum damage to boss monsters on the first hit. This will minimize your losses and allow you to take on higher-level bosses for better rewards.

• Skill Books:
• Lvl 4 Mounted Troop Attack Against Monster – Mounted Troop Attack Against Monster +45%
• Lvl 4 Mounted Troop Attack – Mounted Troop Attack +25%
• Lvl 4 March Size – March Size +12%
• Equipment Refines:
• Spear – Mounted Troop Attack % x4
• Armor – Mounted Troop Defense % x4
• Boots – Mounted Troop Defense % x4
• Helmet – Mounted Troop HP % x4

Looter Hunter Hybrid

This build will allow you to take down big boss monsters whilst also maximizing your loot return. It replaces the march size skill book with the luck skill book to increase the double item drop rate.

This will of course decrease your damage output slightly. However, the double drops are good compensation.

• Lvl 4 Mounted Troop Attack Against Monster – Mounted Troop Attack Against Monster +45%
• Lvl 4 Luck – Double Items Drop Rate +18%
• Lvl 4 Mounted Troop Attack – Mounted Troop Attack +25%
• Equipment Refines:
• Spear – Mounted Troop Attack % x4
• Armor – Mounted Troop Defense % x4
• Boots – Mounted Troop Defense % x4
• Helmet – Mounted Troop HP % x4
• Leg Armor – Mounted Troop HP % x4
• Ring – Mounted Troop Attack % x4

Mounted PvP

Mounted PvP can be very useful in the early and late stages of the game. Early game, players will have huge, mounted marches which you can destroy with your higher mounted buff.

Late game you will start to come across keeps set up with ground troop defenses, mounted troops annihilate them. This build will maximize your mounted attack and mounted HP for a mounted PvP march.
