Harry Potter: Magic Awakened Dumbledore Echo Guide

The Mysterious Malady season in Harry Potter Magic Awakened brought players the powerful Dumbledore Echo card. In addition to being one of the most beloved characters in the book series, Dumbledore Echo has seriously powerful effects for players who acquire him. In this Harry Potter Magic Awakened Guide learn how to unlock Dumbledore Echo, his strengths and weaknesses, and the best decks for utilizing him in to dominate duels.

How to Unlock the Dumbledore Echo

The Dumbledore Echo can be unlocked by completing challenges in the Forbidden Forest. The first challenge involves venturing through the solo mode and reaching level 10 at which point you can encounter it as a potential reward from the Flying Ford Anglia. However, the odds of obtaining it are similar to other echoes, so prepare to be waiting for a while! Make use of our list of the Best Forbidden Forest Decks to ensure you can get to level 10 as fast as possible.

Alternatively, the Dumbledore Echo can also be found in the Forbidden Forest Team Exploration mode. In this mode, you can attempt to complete the “Into the Woods (Echo)” challenge which grants you the power to choose specific echos as a reward. Starting from difficulty level 2, you can specifically select the Dumbledore Echo, significantly increasing your chances of successfully adding this legendary figure to your deck.

Is the Dumbledore Echo Good?

The Dumbledore Echo makes an excellent card to use in your decks, primarily due to its “Refined Spell” mechanic. Check out the list below to see a full breakdown of what it does:

  • Enhanced Card Generation: The Dumbledore Echo passively adds “Refined Spell” cards to your hand at specific MP intervals, decreasing with its rarity.
  • Hand Replacement: Using “Refined Spell” temporarily replaces your entire hand with four random spell cards, all with a fixed cost of 2 MP. This opens up flexible low-cost spellcasting options.
  • Instant Spells: You can freely choose and use any of the four offered spells, adding them back to the regular card circulation for the remainder of the battle.
  • Late-Game Power Surge: With each “Refined Spell” used, the offered spells gradually become stronger, giving you an edge in the late game.

How to Use the Echo Effectively

Dumbledore’s Echo shines in its adaptability, functioning effectively in both spell-heavy and creature-based decks. However, optimizing its potential requires strategic deck construction. Below are some tips you can utilize to make the most of him:

  • Manage Card Rotation: While high-cost cards can accelerate reaching “Refined Spells”, they can also clog your hand and delay their activation. Maintain a balance of low and medium-cost cards to ensure smooth hand rotation and timely access to “Refined Spells”.
  • Prioritize MP Gain: Utilize MP-generating cards like the Golden Snitch to expedite the acquisition of “Refined Spells.” This empowers you to unleash their power more frequently, dictating the pace of the duel.
  • Early Game Defense: During the early stages, before “Refined Spells” become available, prioritize defensive strategies to maintain your health until you can unleash your late-game potential.
  • Companion Synergy: Consider selecting Companions based on the potential spell cards generated by “Refined Spells”. This synergy allows you to strategically utilize the spells with your chosen companions, maximizing their impact. Companions like Hermione Granger synergize well with spells like Thunderstorm to amplify your late-game offensive capabilities.

Best decks for Dumbledore Echo

As had been touched on in the previous sections of this Harry Potter: Magic Awakened Dumbledore Echo Guide, getting the most out of this card will often involve utilizing a deck that synergizes well with his “Refined Spells” mechanic. Below are some of the best decks you can use the Dumbledore Echo in for this exact purpose.

Budget Deck

  • Magic Cards: Protego Totalum, Inflatus, Side-Along Apparition, Ventus, Nebulus, Incendio, Baby Manticores, Niffler
  • Companion Cards: Lottie Turner, Rubeus Hagrid, Cassandra Vole

Best Deck

  • Magic Cards: Golden Snitch, Baby Manticores, Obscurus, Orb of Water, Side-Along Apparition, Piertotum Locomotor, Protego Totalum, Incendio
  • Companion Cards: Albus Dumbledore, Rubeus Hagrid, Hermione Granger

It is very likely that you will first have to start with the Budget Deck, however, both decks share the same fundamental principles allowing new to switch in cards from the Best Deck as you unlock them. Also feel free to try out your favorite cards, or even a deck focused on creatures like Newt Scamander decks with the flexibility of the Dumbledore Echo allowing many cards to find success.

Dumbledore Echo thrives in the late game, but its early vulnerability requires a strategic deck build focused on survival and efficient MP generation. Defensive and control cards like Rubeus Hagrid’s Companion, Baby Manticores, and Obscurus (used strategically) form the backbone of your early strategy. These cards protect your health while you build toward “Refined Spells”.

Utilize Golden Snitch and the Albus Dumbledore companion card in tandem to quickly generate MP and access your first “Refined Spell”. This jumpstarts your late-game dominance. While Obscurus offers temporary invulnerability, its transformed state leaves you vulnerable. Consider using Protego Totalum to mitigate this drawback and maintain your defensive posture.

As the duel progresses, aim to acquire and utilize powerful spells like Thunderstorm offered by “Refined Spells”. The Hermione Granger companion card synergizes well with Thunderstorm, allowing you to deal devastating damage and potentially overwhelm your opponent in the late game.
