In Whiteout Survival, Fortress Battles is an intense PvP event where Alliances face off to control powerful buildings within their State. These battles not only provide valuable bragging rights but also offer significant rewards for those who dominate. The event is divided into Seasons which consist of multiple Phases that progressively unlock different buildings for battle. At the end of a Season, Alliances are ranked based on their performance, with additional rewards distributed to the top contenders. Overview

As outlined in the introduction to this Whiteout Survival Fortress Battles Guide, the event is divided into Seasons, with each Season spanning 8 weekly Phases. During each Phase, Alliances compete to control Fortresses and Strongholds, with a total of 12 Fortresses and 4 Strongholds available across the event.
At the start of each Phase, alliance leaders (R4s and R5s) may register their alliance to attack 1 Fortress and 1 Stronghold, in addition to defending any buildings they secured in previous Phases. Battles are held on Fridays at designated time slots, where Alliances clash to seize or defend their chosen objectives. Securing these buildings grants event points that contribute to seasonal rankings and immediate rewards for victorious alliances.
Sign-Up Stage

As explained in earlier sections, the Whiteout Survival Fortress Battle is a seasonal event lasting 8 weeks, with battles over Fortresses and Strongholds taking place every Friday. Each week marks a new Phase, and before the battle stage begins, Alliances must go through a Sign-Up Stage.
During the Sign-Up Stage, Alliances can register to attack 1 Fortress and 1 Stronghold per Phase. Additionally, Alliances will automatically be registered to defend any Fortresses they captured in previous Phases during the same Season. As a result, if an Alliance wins all its battles in each Phase, by Phase 8, it could be defending up to 8 Fortresses and 4 Strongholds. However, managing so many battles is extremely demanding and requires precise coordination to avoid overextending.
When signing up, Alliances must also choose 3 preferred time slots for the upcoming battles. The final time slot is determined by the most popular preference selected by all Alliances in the state vying for the same building.
Battle Stage

The Battle Stage kicks off every Friday, and Alliance members must check the event interface or their in-game mails to confirm the allocated time slot for their registered buildings. Once the time slot begins, Alliances have 2 hours to fight for control of the building. Victory can be achieved by either:
- Occupying the building for a continuous 30 minutes, or
- Being the occupier when the 2-hour timer runs out.
At the start of the battle, all buildings are initially defended by NPC Troops known as Phaethon Mercenaries, with Strongholds featuring significantly tougher defenses. Whilst the real challenge begins when other alliances join the fray, the Alliance that first defeats these NPC defenders will also be able to claim a Victory Reward.
Successfully securing a building often comes down to a mix of strategy, coordination, and timing. Factors such as rally leadership, optimal Hero selection, Troop ratios, and reinforcement timing play a critical role in determining the outcome. In some cases, an Alliance might get lucky if only weaker Alliances or no competitors register for the same building.
Points
A Season concludes after all 8 Phases have been completed, with a new Season starting the following week. Throughout the Season, Alliances accumulate points based on the buildings they successfully control during each Phase:
- 1 point is awarded for controlling a Fortress.
- 2 points are awarded for controlling a Stronghold.
At the end of the Season, an Alliance’s total points are tallied with rewards paid out to each member based on this total. These rewards often include valuable resources such as Gems, Gold Keys, and Speedups, making the pursuit of points a key goal for competitive Alliances. In addition to this, there are also Alliance ranking rewards available to all members.
Rewards

During each Phase, there are multiple ways to earn rewards, including securing a building, defeating the defending Phaethon Mercenaries, and more. However, some rewards are exclusive to players who actively participated, or that Alliance leadership deemed worthy, in the battle for the building. Additionally, the type of building, whether a Fortress or a Stronghold, will influence the rewards you can earn. In the following sections, we’ll break down the different rewards available and how to qualify for them.
Victory Rewards
Victory rewards are granted to the Alliance that first occupies a building during a Phase by defeating the defending Phaethon Mercenaries. However, not all Alliance members will receive these rewards. The rewards for victory are as follows:
- Participation Reward – This reward is given to all players who contributed to occupying the building during the initial attack. Rewards include:
- 100 Gems x4
- 1h Training Speedups x10
- 1h Healing Speedups x10
- 5K Hero XP x5
- Alliance Rewards – These rewards are given to all members of the Alliance that first occupies the building during a Phase. Rewards include:
- 100 Gems x2
- 5m Construction Speedup x60
- 5m Research Speedup x60
- 1K Meat x400
- 1K Wood x400
- 1K Coal x80
- 1K Iron x20
- Allocatable Rewards – The Alliance leadership can allocate up to 40 of these rewards to Alliance members based on factors like their overall power or participation in the event. Members can receive more than one Allocatable Reward. The rewards include:
- Platinum Keys x2
- 5m General Speedup x10
- 1K Meat x200
- 1K Wood x200
- 1K Coal x40
- 1K Iron x10
Control Rewards
Control rewards are granted to all members of the Alliance that successfully secure the occupation of a building. The rewards include:
- Gold Key x1
- Platinum Key x2
- 5K Hero XP x2
Fortress & Stronghold Rewards
When an Alliance successfully secures a building, they are eligible for a range of allocatable rewards, which depend on the specific building occupied, the season, and the phase. Since these rewards are allocatable, it’s up to the Alliance leadership to distribute them among their members.
The rewards for each building rotate from phase to phase, and the items available may vary accordingly. For clarity, the items rewarded from Season 3 onwards are outlined in the image below. Please note that rewards for Strongholds in earlier seasons are slightly less valuable and do not include Fire Crystals. Additionally, Shards are for Heroes from 2 Generations prior to your current Generation. For example, if you are in Generation 3, Hero Shards will be for Heroes from Generation 1 such as Molly and Zinman.

Season Point Rewards
These rewards are paid out based on an Alliance’s total number of points at the end of the season. These rewards, based on an alliance’s points total, are outlined in the table below:
| Points | Rewards |
|---|---|
| 1 | 3d Steam-Mania Avatar Frame x1 10 Gems x10 Gold Key x1 1h General Speedup x2 |

Season Ranking Rewards
In addition to rewards for an Alliance’s points total, they will also receive a ranking reward based on their points total versus other Alliances in the state. These rewards include Gems, Resources, Speedups, and more.
Tips for Winning
- Alliance Coordination: Fortress Battles are an Alliance event and as such, those Alliances that work closely together are much more likely to come out on top. Make sure you have elected for time slots that will see the most players active, communicate details on rally leaders clearly, ensure everyone knows their role, and, if possible, use a messaging app such as Discord or WhatsApp.
- Use the Right Heroes: Choose the right Heroes for rallies and occupations. Some Heroes provide better buffs for attack, defense, or healing, so select those that complement your strategy. Check out our Whiteout Survival PvP Guide for more help with this concept.
- Rally Timing: Make sure you are ready and Teleported around the target building before the event begins. You want to have the prime slots to help your rallies hit the building fast and before other Alliances. In addition to this, if you are trying to take the building from another Alliance you may need to hit it several times with rallies in quick succession. This makes it difficult for the enemy to reinforce in time.
- Troop Composition: New players to the game will often just send the automatic Troop composition on rallies and attacks. However, this is a huge mistake, and you’ll need to alter your compositions depending on whether you are rallying or defending. Check out our PvP Tips for Beginners where we cover this in more detail.
- Reinforce Relentlessly: Once you have occupied a building you will likely come under sustained attack from other Alliances. As these attacks hit you, the Troops defending the building will slowly diminish until they are finally defeated. To combat this, you need to ensure you are reinforcing as quickly as the enemy is rallying. Simply send a march of Troops without any Heroes and they will top up the Troops you already have there.
- Snowball Your Phases: Try to win as many battles as possible in earlier phases. This sees the number of buildings you can attack snowball in later phases allowing you to earn more points and rewards.
- State Negotiation: It is a good idea to enter negotiations with the other big Alliances in your state to define some rules for the event. For example, no attacks on player cities and an agreed rotation of the Strongholds between Alliances. Without this, the event can be very costly in terms of Troop losses that even the Whales like to avoid.
- Sniping: If you are struggling to hold on to a building after occupying it, consider sniping it at the last minute before the event ends. If you hold it at the end of the end then you will deemed as the winner.
- Choose Buildings Carefully: As shown in the picture earlier in this Whiteout Survival Fortress Battles Guide, the rewards from each building vary greatly. Sign up for those that have the rewards your Alliance actually needs.
- Keep Your Team Happy: A lot of the rewards available from this event are allocated by Alliance leadership. Make sure you are giving these rewards evenly to the players who actually participated. Giving them all to yourself or your friends is a shortcut to seeing your Alliance fall apart.
