The King of Icefield event replaces the Hall of Chiefs event following your State’s first State of Power battle. It operates very similarly to its predecessor, with the event split out into 7 stages of events with points earned for different activities in each stage. However, the rewards offered are a clear upgrade on the Hall of Chiefs. In this Whiteout Survival King of Icefield Guide, we take a closer look at this event, examining how points are earned at each stage, what rewards are on offer, and provide some specific tips and strategies to help you place well.

How Does the Event Work?

Rewards

As mentioned in a previous section of this Whiteout Survival King of Icefield Guide, there are several categories of rewards available based on the number of points you accumulate during the event. A few more details on each of these are outlined in the sections below.
Stage Milestone
During each stage of the event, there are 4 point milestones you can meet for rewards. These typically include a large number of resources, speedups, Hero EXP, Gems, Fire Crystals, and a new item called Medal of Honor. Even if you are not aiming for a high ranking during the King of Icefield event, always make sure you get the milestone rewards as these are easy to obtain and offer pretty good value. The milestone points required increases with your State’s age.
Medal of Honor
2 Medal of Honors can be obtained by meeting the final 2 milestones during each Stage for a total of 14 Medal of Honors during the event. These can then be used to claim Medal of Honor Rewards once you reach a certain number. Rewards include a small number of Shards for the current Generation’s King of Icefield Hero, Mythic Skill Manuals, Speedups, and a General Accessory Construction Contract for Daybreak Island.
State Stage Ranking
During each stage, you will be ranked against your entire State based on the total number of points you have accumulated. Here, only the top 100 receive rewards with a huge number of Gems available to those near the top alongside speedups and resources. Ranking in the top 100 is a relatively easy objective if you plan out the stages and what exactly you want to use in each one to maximize your points.
State Total Ranking
In this category, you are ranked against all other players in your State based on the total number of points you accumulate across all stages. Rewards are available for the top 100 with Shards for the current Generation’s King of Icefield Hero being the real highlight. Check out our Hero List to see which Hero is available from the King of Icefield event in each Generation. You should aim to finish in the top 100 every time so that you can unlock this Hero.
Cross-State Personal Ranking
Here, you are ranked based on your total points across all stages against the players in all the states you are competing against. In this category, rewards are paid out to the top 1,000 players, and whilst this may seem difficult to achieve if you are in your State’s top 100 then you should easily be in the Cross-State top 1,000. Rewards include the current Generation’s King of Icefield Hero, Fire Crystals, Skins for the top players, and Gems.
Cross-State State Rank
This category ranks the total points accumulated by all players in your State against those of the other States. Rewards here are pretty mid and it is hard to influence your State’s ranking as a single player, therefore you should not worry about it too much. Nevertheless, rewards here include speedups, Recruitment Keys, and resources.
Best Item Usage
A lot of players will simply use all the relevant items they have at their disposal during each stage of the event. However, unless you are a Whale, this could be setting you up for failure and making it hard for you to rank and hit milestones in the later stages of the event. Therefore, it is smart to only use certain items in each stage so that you can balance your score across stages and ensure you are getting the most rewards possible. In this way, you can obtain all milestone rewards, hit the top 100 in almost every stage, get all the Medal of Honor rewards, and place in the top 100 overall ranking. The chart below outlines the items that can be used in each stage for points, with those highlighted in green the ones we recommend using in the respective stage.

Bonus Tips for Scoring High
The strategy outlined in the previous section of this Whiteout Survival King of Icefield Guide is easily the most important thing you should be doing during the event. However, there are a few more tips to consider that will help you score and rank well. These are outlined in the list below:
- For the train troops stages, keep in mind that you can also earn points by upgrading. The points earned are the difference in points between training Troops of the corresponding levels. The rate you earn will balance out so it doesn’t really matter which you do and as mentioned in our Tips for Beginners and PvP Tips, you should always be upgrading your low-level troops before training new ones. Use our Troop Training Calculator to work out how many points you can earn from building a certain number of Troops during the event.
- During the Hero Development Stages, spinning the Lucky Wheel offers a massive 8,000 points. Save up your Gems for this and aim to max the Wheel out. As mentioned in our Tips for Beginners, the Lucky Wheel is also a great place to get some of the Best F2P Heroes from each Generation.
- For the Gathering Stages, make sure to use your Gathering Speed Boost buffs to ensure you are gathering as much as possible for maximum points. Although the points for this activity look small, it quickly scales if you are gathering millions at a time. Check out our Gathering Guide for more help with speeding up your gathering.
- Even if you are not trying to rank well, make sure you hit the points milestones for each stage. This is a great source of Gems and Skill Manuals, regardless of the ranking rewards.
- Now on to a word of warning, don’t overdo it. There is no point in looking at the chart in the previous section and just blasting your whole stock of the item. Instead, only use the amount that will get you to the reward tier you are aiming for. For example, for Stage Ranking Rewards, there is no difference in rewards between ranks 51 and 100. This then allows you to save items for other events such as State of Power where there are similar activities that must be completed for rewards.
