Star Wars Galaxy of Heroes Tips and Tricks

The Star Wars franchise has grown and grown since the first movie was released way back in 1977. Now with a huge array of characters and lore from new movies, TV shows, and games, it is no surprise that Star Wars Galaxy of Heroes has become quite a complex game! Thankfully, we are here to help! Make use of these Star Wars Galaxy of Heroes Tips and Tricks to help you get started in this sprawling universe.

Focus on your Best Heroes

SWGoH Beginner Tips - Best Heroes

At first, focus on upgrading just your best Heroes. It is also worth choosing to focus mainly on just the Light or Dark side. This will see you using your energy to tactfully complete battles that will reward you with your preferred Hero Shards and Equipment Materials. Taking this approach will see you being able to complete the battle stages much more quickly. This will open up the opportunity to farm levels quickly as you progress. Check out SWGoH Leveling Guide for Beginners for more information on this important tip.

Choose the right Squad

Going into each battle you are able to choose a squad of 6 Heroes. There are 4 different hero types: Attack, Tank, Healer, and Defense. Taking only Tanks would be a mistake as you will deal very little damage. Healing abilities can cure all of your allies’ wounds, defensive spells can protect your allies from attacks, offensive spells can increase your attack power, and support spells can give you extra HP or MP. Each ability costs different amounts of energy (which you gain from killing enemies). Focusing on a Beginner Jedi Squad can be a great start!

Get a Portable Charger

Star Wars Galaxy of Heroes is a great game but will use a lot of your Cell Phone’s battery. Getting a portable charger will ensure this is no longer a problem. Check out our list of the Best Cell Phone Power Banks for Gaming.

Upgrade your Heroes Gear

To upgrade your Heroes, you need to collect Gear Materials to craft Hero Gear. Each hero has 6 gear slots. Once you have filled up all these slots, you can upgrade their Gear level. This gives the Hero’s stats a big boost.

Join an Active Guild

Joining an active Guild is one of the best ways to ensure you get the most out of Star Wars Heroes of the Galaxy. They become available at level 22. You can meet lots of new people this way and earn great rewards from Guild Raids.

Complete Challenges

Challenges are optional quests that can be completed and are only active for a limited period of time. These challenges often require you to defeat specific opponents using certain types of Heroes. They are a great source of Crystals and Ability Materials, which are given as completion rewards.

Always Use your Energy

Do not waste time by leaving your energy at its max level. At this point, it cannot increase. Additionally, you may go over the limit from energy leveling bonuses. Make sure you use this up.

Collect Free Energy

You can collect free energy 3 times. This is ideal if you are not spending much money as it ensures you can keep completing quests. This is vital to collect shards and equipment to improve your Heroes.

Use your Sim Tickets

Sim tickets are the best way to use up your energy when low on time. They can be used to instantly complete battles you have already 3-starred. Sim tickets can be collected from Battles.

Complete Battles on Hard

You should start completing Hard battles early on. These are one of the best sources for Hero shards. However, they can only be done a limited number of times each day. Completing them from the very beginning will make sure you are maximizing your Shard collection opportunities.

Take part in Cantina Battles

Cantina Battles use special Cantina Energy. You should therefore ensure you are using up this resource as well. They offer great rewards too, including Hero Shards, Ability Materials, and Cantina Battle Tokens. You must be level 18 to unlock Cantina Battles. Cantina Battle Tokens can be exchanged for Hero Shards and Ability Materials.

Don’t Neglect Hero Abilities

Hero abilities can be upgraded using the Ability Materials you have collected in Cantina Battles. Improving abilities is vital to improving the power of your Heroes. This will allow you to take on tougher opponents for greater rewards.

Don’t Waste Spare Shards

Once you have maxed out a Hero to 7 stars, you can upgrade them no further. However, you may continue to accumulate Shards for this Hero anyway. These can be exchanged at the Shard Shop for the opportunity to receive great items or Shards for other Heroes.
