Since the Survivor.io Release of Pets everyone has been having a lot of fun trying to unlock and upgrade their favorite ones to join them in battle. However, it is not always clear who is the best Survivor.io Pet and even how you can get more and upgrade them. In this Survivor.io Pet Guide, we take a look at all this and show you how to get the most out of your Pets.
What are Pets in Survivor.io
Survivor.io Pets are animal companions that can be unlocked and used to join you in battle. You are able to deploy one Pet to take with you into battle and you will see them follow you around attacking enemies. In addition, you are able to assign two Pets to assist the main Pet. Assist Pets do not join the battle but improve the deployed Pet in a certain way depending on their Assist Skill. Pets gain an Assist skill at random at Better quality.
Like most things in Survivor.io, such as Weapons and Equipment, Pets come in 6 different levels of quality. As their quality improves, so do their stats and their skills. It is therefore quite important to improve this so as to get the most out of them. The different quality levels are as follows:
- Grey – Normal
- Green – Good
- Blue – Better
- Purple – Excellent
- Yellow – Epic
- Red – Legend
It is also worth noting that the Pets that you deploy with you in battle are not invincible. They will take damage just like the owner, with them feinting once they reach 0 HP. Thankfully, however, you are able to heal them by standing over their body for a short period of time. This can be done at any time with feinted Pets remaining on the battlefield permanently. Buffs from pets are not active whilst they are feinted.
How to Get Pets in Survivor.io
Getting Pets in Survivor.io is pretty simple and just makes use of the chest mechanic. As a F2P player, you are able to three Pet Chests a day by watching ads. Alternatively, you can spend 300 Gems to open one Excellent Pet Chest or 2,680 Gems to open ten. With these Gem chests, you are guaranteed an Excellent quality Pet every 10 opens.
How to Upgrade Pets in Survivor.io
As mentioned previously, you can improve your pets so as to increase their ability to assist you in battle. There are two main ways to do this: Leveling and Evolving. Each of these methods is covered in more detail in the next sections of this Survivor.io Pet Guide.

Leveling Pets in Survivor.io
Leveling a Pet in Survivor.io improves their base ATK and HP stats. The max level of each Pet will depend on their quality, with this increasing each time their quality increases. Leveling a Pet costs Pet Cookies which can be obtained from the Pet Shop. They can be bought at the following prices:
- Ads – 100 Pet Cookies
- 36k Coins – 150 Pet Cookies
- 30 Gems – 200 Pet Cookies
Evolve Pets in Survivor.io
As mentioned earlier in this Survivor.io Pet Guide, Pets can come in 6 different levels of quality with higher quality meaning better Pet base stats and skills. Indeed, a pet’s base stats are inherited from the Survivor’s based on the Pet’s quality. To improve the quality of a Pet you can evolve them by combing duplicate copies of the Pet. Evolution requirements for each quality are as follows:

Survivor.io Pet Skills
There are three main types of skills that each Pet has in Survivor.io, these include Deploy Skills, Assist Skills, and Quality Skills. Each of these is now explained in the following sections of this Survivor.io Pet Guide.
Survivor.io Pet Deploy Skill
Regardless of their level or quality, each Pet in Survivor.io starts with a main Deploy Skill. These are active when the Pet is deployed with you in battle and can be improved by upgrading the Pet’s quality. You will see your Pets using these skills when they are deployed with you in battle.

Survivor.io Pet Assist Skill
When a Pet reaches Better quality, they unlock an Assist Skill at random. These are only active when they are assigned as an Assisting Pet and typically improve the main deployed Pet in some way. Assist Skills also improve as the quality of the Pet is increased. Please note that you cannot have two pets with the same Assist Skill assisting you at the same time. Some examples of Assist Skills are as follows:
- Boost – In battle, for every 5 levels the owner gains, the pet’s ATK and skill range increase by 5%.
- Durable – In battle, for every 5 levels the owner gains, the pet’s shot duration increases by 8%.
Survivor.io Pet Quality Skill
These are additional skills that each pet can unlock as their quality improves further. These are unlocked at Excellent, Epic, and Legend quality and are only active when a Pet is deployed with you in battle. They can either improve the Survivor or the Pet.
