GameSir T4 Cyclone Pro Multi-Platform Controller Review

GameSir has been the throne as one of the best producers of mobile gaming peripherals alongside industry titans such as Razer and Victrix for a good time now. What sets GameSir apart is their ability to create a quality controller at a great price point. In this review, we take a look at the GameSir T4 Cyclone Pro and test its true capabilities and real-world gameplay potential.

Design and Build Quality

GameSir T4 Cyclone Pro Controller Design Review

The GameSir T4 Cyclone Pro comes well packaged so there are no worries about any damage in transit. Alongside the controller, the box also contains a USB-C cable, an e-manual, a warranty card, some GameSir stickers, and a wireless dongle. The T4 Cyclone Pro is built on the foundation of the GameSir T4 Cyclone, except for some extra features that will boost your gaming experience even more.

Our first impression of the T4 Cyclone Pro was that it is incredibly classy. Indeed, it feels right at home in your hands and has a quality heavier weight to it than its base variant, the GameSir T4 Cyclone.

The GameSir T4 Cyclone Pro comes only in black, or ‘Midnight’ as described by GameSir. The ABXY buttons seem to have a glossy finish that gives it a premium look with the layout following that of an Xbox controller. Other features of the controller include:

  • In-built phone holder slot
  • Hall Effect sensing sticks with anti-drift and ultra-longevity
  • Precision-tuned Hall Effect Vibration Triggers (LT & RT)
  • Motion control for immersive gameplay
  • Hyper-realistic Quad-motor structure
  • Tactile yet cushioned face buttons
  • Micro-switch ABXY buttons
  • Low-latency wireless dongle connection
  • Pair button to ensure the pairing process is quick
  • Reset button
  • Anti-slip laser-textured grips
  • Dedicated ‘M’ button for multi-function and adjustments
  • Two macro back buttons L4 and R4 that can be assigned different actions at once using the ‘M’ button
  • Button mapping, vibration, and other customizations via GameSir app

The GameSir T4 Cyclone Pro serves every purpose you need across multiple platforms, however, there are two downsides to it. Nevertheless, these drawbacks do not cause a major threat to its value as it concerns just a small group of users, but we shall discuss them regardless.

First, is the missing piece for mobile gamers. Though the GameSir T4 Cyclone Pro comes with an in-built phone holder slot, it does not provide you with a phone holder. Unfortunately, you will need to buy this separately if you wish to use it in this way.

The last drawback is pointed towards the Nintendo Switch users. Similar to the button swap in the GameSir T4 Cyclone, things are just the other way here. The ABXY buttons when connected to a Switch which can cause confusion. This does not create much of a hassle, but GameSir has made a great attempt at grasping the Switch and Xbox audience with the same controller, which is quite challenging considering its differences.

Connectivity and Compatibility

GameSir T4 Cyclone Pro Connection

The GameSir T4 Cyclone Pro ensures smooth gaming with tri-mode connectivity that includes connections via Bluetooth, USB-C cable, and the wireless dongle provided along with the T4 Cyclone Pro. As such, you can use either the wireless function or the wired connection if you want to ensure minimal latency issues as can be seen with Bluetooth.

Before you try to game on the T4 Cyclone Pro, there are certain complications you need to complete. To map the buttons on your phone, you must download the GameSir app and follow the instructions it outlines. This also includes enabling developer options, USB, and Wireless debugging. It stretches your time and could easily take up to 20 minutes to complete, but you will only need to do this once.

As far as compatibility is concerned, you do not have anything to fear. The GameSir T4 Cyclone Pro is comfortably compatible with all commonly used platforms – PC, Switch, Android, and iOS. This removes the need to carry multiple controllers for different platforms.

The color in the T4 Cyclone Pro’s Power button indicates the device it is connected to. For instance, the Power button glows in blue when connected to iOS, green for Windows, red for Switch, and yellow for Android devices.

GameSir T4 Cyclone Pro Gameplay

Gaming on the GameSir T4 Cyclone Pro is nothing short of bliss. We had an incredible time gaming both on our mobile phone and laptop. On mobile, we tried playing Call of Duty: Mobile and EA FC Mobile, and it was an extremely smooth experience. Indeed, we highly recommend using a controller such as the GameSir T4 Cyclone Pro when playing football and story games to see huge improvements in your experience.

On laptop, we tried Hitman 3 and Fortnite using the wired cable and wireless dongle in two separate sessions. After testing, we can say for certain that the difference in latency is minimal. The option of having 2 extra buttons in L4 and R4 gives you that much-needed advantage if you are a hardcore gamer, as these buttons can be assigned to perform any action and provide you with a seamless experience.

The GameSir T4 Cyclone Pro is a splendid all-rounder and it cannot be denied. It has all the features you need and a little more if you feel bored with the standard features. From the premium look given to the ABXY buttons to the Hall Effect sticks and near-endless capabilities, we highly recommend going for the GameSir T4 Cyclone Pro. At the same time, if you wish to keep your budget low, the GameSir T4 Cyclone is what you should be looking at, given that most features are available on both variants.
