Like most RPG and gacha games, Characters in Genshin Impact fall into different roles and categories depending on their functionality. These include Damage Dealers, Buffers, Shielders, and Healers. A good team will combine Characters from these different roles. In this Guide, we take a look at Genshin Impact Healers and how to use them in the best way.
What is a Healer in Genshin Impact?

Whether by their Elemental Skill, Elemental Burst, or through talents, any character who can provide healing could be considered a Healer in Genshin Impact. It’s important to note that several Characters in this role will often fall into other roles simultaneously, and characters who do that well are among the Best Healers in the game.
Some Genshin Impact Characters have small amounts of healing attached to their Elemental Skill or Elemental Burst but aren’t typically viewed as a part of the healer role by the overall community. This is usually due to the fact that their ability doesn’t provide a lot of healing or isn’t healing over a sustained period of time.
Two examples of this would be Xingqiu’s Hydropathic passive talent and Gorou’s 4th constellation Lapping Hound: Warm as Water. These healing sources can matter but usually aren’t enough on their own to keep up with damage taken from enemies. For the purposes of this guide, we wouldn’t consider characters from these niche cases to be part of the pure Healer role.
Choosing a Genshin Impact Healer

Choosing the Best Healer for your party can be complicated and will depend a lot on the composition of your party. In particular, the Healer’s Element will play a key role in this regard. In the next section of this Genshin Impact Healers Guide, we split out the key reasons for this. If you want to know more about Elements, you can more detailed information in our Genshin Impact Characters Guide.
Elemental Reactions
First, what Elemental Reactions can a Healer participate in? For example, if you’re making a Freeze team for an Ayaka or a Ganyu, a Pyro healer like Bennett won’t work because he’s going to cause Melt reactions. Instead, players would need to look for a Cryo or Hydro character like Kokomi or Diona for healing instead.
Elemental Resonance
Secondly, does the Character offer the team an Elemental Resonance? In the Freeze example, Diona can enable the Cryo resonance to improve the Crit Rate against frozen opponents, while Bennett can offer a Pyro damage dealer access to more ATK via Pyro resonance.
Elemental Particles
Third, can the Character generate Elemental Particles for an expensive burst on the team? Kokomi could heal in a team alongside Xiangling, but the elemental particles that Bennett generates will be Pyro aspected and supply Xiangling’s expensive burst with more energy than Healers of a different element.
Best Genshin Impact Healer Equipment
Next up in this Genshin Impact Healers Guide, it is important to mention Equipment and its importance as a way to evaluate the Best Healers. To get the most out of your Healers, you’ll need to pick the right Weapon and Artifact Set for them that maximizes their healing capabilities. Some important things to consider in this regard are outlined in the next sections.
Weapon Synergy

Genshin Impact Characters who can comfortably wear a Crit Rate circlet artifact, like Bennett, are better suited to carrying a Favonius series weapon. This allows them to generate energy for the team by making crits. This is a vastly different choice of Weapon to a Healer who favors a Healing Bonus or Elemental Mastery.
In the Healer role, more damage-focused offensive weapons are less of a priority. As such, Catalyst characters specifically can have the option to carry Thrilling Tales of Dragon Slayers for the team, providing an ATK buff to the damage dealer.
Best Artifact Sets for Healers

Good artifact sets for the Best Healers can include Noblesse Oblige for the ATK buff, Deepwood Memories on Dendro Healers, or Viridescent Venerer for Anemo Healers. In addition, the Ocean-Hued Clam or Tenacity of the Millelith sets can offer a Healing Bonus or HP Bonus to fuel scalings while carrying beneficial effects like damage based on healing, or ATK and Shield strength benefits.
The Maiden Beloved set isn’t very popular overall as in most cases any of the above sets generally offer the team more utility while healers usually have enough throughput without the aid of Maiden Beloved which only offers healing throughput benefits. However, newer players farming the Valley of Remembrance domain for Viridescent Venerer may end up with enough Maiden Beloved pieces to use temporarily.
Knowing which sets a Healer is compatible with tells us more about what they offer to the team, so read their talents to determine which stats they scale with or what reactions they participate in to determine which sets to give them.
Building Your Team with a Healer
As a team only has 4 slots, all these factors should help you determine when and where you can consolidate roles. If you have an Electro damage dealer triggering Hyperbloom and you were using Kokomi as the Hydro character and Healer, but want to put her in the other side of your Spiral Abyss with a Freeze team, then bringing in a Hydro off-field DPS and Kuki Shinobu instead will free up Kokomi to move to the other team.
Characters who consolidate multiple roles or functions into one party slot are among Genshin Impact’s strongest and this is more true than ever for Healers and what they can do in addition to just healing.
