King’s Choice Uncharted Waters Guide

The Uncharted Waters event in King’s Choice sees players taking to the high seas as they wheel and deal to turn a profit or choose the life of piracy and steal from other players. We find this event a lot of fun and it also happens to be an event where you can place quite highly even as a free player, though of course spending a little gold can help! Come aboard and join us in this King’s Choice Uncharted Waters Guide to learn how best to tackle this event and see what rewards you can expect.

What is the Uncharted Waters Event?

King's Choice Uncharted Waters Guide - Event Details

In the King’s Choice Uncharted Waters event, you are pitted against several other servers with rewards paid out based on both your individual rank and your alliance rank. The best rewards are gained from your alliance rank and as such teamwork here is vital. The aim of the game is to accumulate as much wealth as possible in any way you can – as a noble trader or as a fierce pirate!

If you choose the life of a trader then you will spend most of your time traveling from location to location looking for goods to buy and sell whilst as a pirate you will be searching the sees for easy prey who are loaded to the rafter with goods and wealth to steal. Alternatively, you can choose to do a bit of both and take the opportunities as they arise – this is most often the best tactic.

As you continue to play the event you will gain EXP which can be used to learn a new skill each time you level. These skills can be used to improve a range of things such as your profit in trading or your proficiency in battle. Which skills you choose will drive the tactic that you pursue during the event. Keep reading this King’s Choice Uncharted Waters Guide as we cover all this in more detail.

Voyagers Wealth

Voyager Wealth is the key resource of the event that will determine where you are ranked. For alliance ranking it is based on the sum of the Voyager Wealth of all players in your alliance. Your total Voyager Wealth is determined by the number of Voyager Coins you have and the value of any goods that you have on your ship.

As such, to increase your Voyager Wealth you must increase the number of Coins you have by partaking in piracy and/or by trading goods around the map. Both are perfectly viable tactics though it should be warned that other players may seek revenge if you follow the piracy root and still your hard-earned Coins. The number of Coins you start the event with is determined by your nobility title, therefore the higher this is, the more goods you can start trading in from the get-go.

Supply Barrels

King's Choice Uncharted Waters Guide - Supply Barrels

To take action in the King’s Choice Uncharted Waters Event, whether that be plundering or trading, you must consume Supply Barrels. You can hold a maximum of 10 of these at any one time with them restocking by 1 every 30 minutes. Alternatively, you can purchase additional ones using a few different methods:

  • Value Packs – event-specific packs can be purchased for real money and contain Supply Chests with 3 supply barrels in them.
  • Item Store – each day of the event you can purchase 2 Supply Chests with 3 Supply Barrels in them for 200 Gold each.
  • Limited Time Packs – these can be bought with gold and can contain Supply Chests with 3 supply barrels in them.
  • Limited Time Quests – these will sometimes be available to be completed and may contain Supply Chests as a reward.

Although you can place well without spending Gold, if you want to win the event outright then it is likely you will need to use some of the options above to increase the number of profitable actions you can take during the event.

Map

King's Choice Uncharted Waters Map

Understanding the Uncharted Waters map is key to doing well in the event. It shows a historical view of the world with 40 important ports from the time highlighted. Each of these can be traveled to at the cost of 1 Supply Barrel. Once you have reached them you are able to buy and sell goods. Each port will have a specialty good that they sell for cheap and will be shown in a small icon next to it.

For example, Ceylon specializes in Tea Leaves, and these can be purchased for 86% of their market value. Once bought you will then move on to a new port on the world map to sell the good at what is hopefully a healthy profit! Each Ports specialty is shown in the list below.

Trading

King's Choice Uncharted Waters Guide - Trading

As mentioned in the previous sections, buying and selling goods is the easiest and most risk-free way of increasing your Voyager Wealth. At its most basic, this is all about buying low and selling high by navigating to different ports around the map. As such, each port you go to you will want to buy the cheapest good available, i.e. that which is listed the furtherest below 100%. After purchasing the cheapest good you will then want to move on to another port where the price is much higher such as listed at 105%. Each time you move costs 1 Supply Barrel.

Each port has a specialty in a certain good which it will sell at the cheapest relative cost to the normal market price. However, each port only has a limited number of each good, meaning that they may run out of this and you will have to go with the next cheapest good and so on. This in particular becomes a problem as the event progresses and other players can buy out the complete stock in one go.

Thankfully, each port supplied refresh every 3 hours. You can take advantage of this by saving up your supply barrels to be used just after the refresh to ensure you can take advantage of all ports being back at full supply. It is also a good idea to share the prices that ports are buying different goods at in your alliance chat so that your allies can see where they need to go to get the best price for their goods. Once your ship has reached level 40 you can use Restock Tickets to replenish the goods of a port, these can be bought for 200 Gold each at the Item Store.

Plundering

King's Choice Uncharted Waters Guide - Plundering

If you want to engage in some PvP with the chance for some huge Voyager Wealth increases, albeit with some risk, then plundering is the way to go. Here you can check the world for nearby players to attack and steal from. If you win the battle you will gain goods if they have any as well as some Coins. To improve your chances of winning a battle you will want to upgrade your ship’s Battle skill. It costs 1 Supply Barrel to attack another player.

To plunder another player you need to select the Nearby Players button which will show you a list of 5 possible targets. This list will refresh every 3 hours along with the port refresh. Alternatively, you can refresh the list for 120 Gold an unlimited number of times. Of course, this could get expensive fast, therefore make sure you know How to get Gold in King’s Choice for Free.

As well as the Nearby Players list, there is also the option to search for a specific player to attack under the same menu. However, you must have War Flags to do this. Choose your targets carefully as each one can only be attacked once per hour. Aim to select those who have the most Wealth and the least amount of Goods as this will maximize your returns from a successful battle.

When the event first starts, you will be able to loot a maximum of 2% of the Target’s Voyager Coins. Therefore, you should consider this versus the return from a simple Trading strategy when examining the list of available targets. You can improve your potential loot reward by upgrading your Ship’s Loot skill.

Upgrading

King's Choice Uncharted Waters Guide - Ship Upgrades

Each time that you consume a Supply Barrel you gain 20 EXP for your Ship. For every 100 EXP that you accumulate, you can select a new skill for your Ship from a random selection of 3 skills. The one you choose will depend on your focus during the event – for example the Battle skill for plundering and the Expand skill for trading. The below table outlines all the different skills you can upgrade.

SkillDescription
BattleIncreases your chances of winning a battle – needed for plundering and defending against attacks.
ExpandIncreases the number of goods you can hold – vital for maximizing profit from trading.
IntelReduces the gold costs of refreshing nearby targets – useful to reduce the associated cost of a plundering strategy.
LootIncreases loot after winning a battle – needed to maximize the rewards from a plundering strategy.
ProfitIncreased profit from selling goods – a nice little extra for a trading strategy but Expand should be your priority initially.

Your Ship can reach a maximum level of 70 with each skill having a level cap of 20. Therefore, to reach level 70 you will need to consume a total of 350 Supply Barrels. Alternatively, you can use Gold to increase your level for 1 Gold per EXP meaning 1 whole level will cost 100 Gold.

Rewards

King's Choice Uncharted Waters Guide - Rewards

There are several different categories of rewards available during the Uncharted Water’s Event such as Achievement Rewards for hitting certain Voyager Wealth milestones. These include things such as Talent EXP, Gifts for your Lovers, Editcs for your Knights, Prestige, and more. However, of most importance are the final ranking rewards for your total Individual Wealth and total Alliance Wealth.

Whilst your Individual Ranking can grant you a huge amount of Talent Edicts, Prestige, and Materials, the Alliance Ranking is where the real money is. Here you can win Negotiation Cards and Knight items, such as Crowns for the Legendary Monarchs, that will give the most benefit to your account. As such, taking an active role with your alliance during Uncharted Waters is crucial to getting the most out of it.

Tips

Finally, in this King’s Choice Uncharted Waters Guide, let’s take a look at some specific tips and strategies you can implement to improve your final placing.

  • Save your Supply Barrels for the 3 hourly refresh – this ensures all ports will be full allowing you to take advantage of their cheap specialty goods.
  • Save Plundering for day 2 or 3 of the event – at this point, targets will have a higher amount of wealth allowing you to loot much much more. Typically, on day 1, it is better to earn coins by trading.
  • Share in Alliance Chat any high prices that ports are paying for goods to help your alliance get a better score. Also always check the Alliance Chat to see if anyone knows the best place you can sell your goods at.
  • Don’t neglect your defense as players start to pursue plundering – ensure your ship has some Battle skill upgrades to help fend off any attacks.
  • Use gold to gain some levels in the early stages of the event to improve your ship capacity with the Expand skill. This will allow you to purchase more goods for trading.
  • Form non-aggression pacts with your server – agreeing not to plunder other ships from your server will reduce the likelihood that you will be attacked. However, this does have the downside of reducing the number of potential targets too!
  • Focus on developing Pets with the Bloodline that increases the number of Supply Barrels you begin Uncharted Events with each day. At the maximum level, these give you an additional 4 Supply Barrels each day.
