King’s Choice War of the Lions Guide

War of the Lions is cross-server and also one of the more complex events in King’s Choice and is split into 2 stages: the Supply Reserves Stage and the Fortress War Stage. Over these stages, players must work together with their server against 4 others and embark on explorations to find supplies for their alliance that will be used to support them in the Fortress War. This is a tricky event to master with a lot of diplomacy between servers required to come out on top. In this King’s Choice War of the Lions Guide, we’ll outline all you need to know about this event and provide tips to help you lead the way to victory.

Supply Reserves Stage

The first stage of the King’s Choice War of Lions Event is the Supply Reserves Stage. This stage lasts 1 day during which players can dispatch their Knights to explore supply points on the map for the chance to find chests, NPCs, and the Knights of other Lords. Each of these has the chance to reward the player with certain supplies that can be donated to upgrade their Server Fortress Level for the Fortress War Stage of the Event. In next next sections, we will cover each of these points in a bit more detail.

Map

As shown in the image above there are several locations that you can send your Knights to during the Supply Reserves Stage in the King’s Choice War of Lions Event. To be exact, 9 locations in total can be viewed by scrolling down the screen. Each location will have a different resource available that you can find by exploring it. These are outlined in the table below:

Deploying Knights

Each of the locations found on the map, as outlined above, can be explored by deploying Knights. To deploy, simply select the location you wish to explore and select the Knight you want to send there. When selecting a Knight it is typically best to choose the one with the highest number of total attributes which acts as their HP during exploration. When you hit Explore your Knight will then search the location and encounter 1 of 3 possible targets each of which you will have different interactions with.

NPC Enemy

NPC Enemy - King's Choice War of the Lions

NPC Enemies are the most common targets you will come across when exploring. When found, the only thing you can do is attack them. There is no risk associated with this as you will always come out on top without your Knight losing any HP. After they have been defeated you will be rewarded with a small amount of the supplies associated with the location you are at and a certain amount of Supply Points which affects your ranking for rewards. It does not cost any stamina to attack an NPC Enemy.

Enemy Player

King's Choice War of the Lions - enemy player

There is also a chance to encounter Knights that have been deployed by rival servers. These can either be attacked or evaded, again at no stamina cost. Like NPC enemies, they also offer a small amount of supplies as a reward for attacking them (you don’t need to defeat them), and, in addition, defeating them will grant your deployed Knight some Bounty Points. However, you need to be much more careful with these Knights, as they can defeat you! Indeed, if you think the Knight looks like they are more powerful, then just evade them.

One quick way of determining if the Knight is stronger than yours is by looking at their Rank Badge which is next to their health bar. If this is a higher rank than your Knights then you may be in for a tough battle. However, this is not where the danger ends, whilst deployed at a location, other players may discover your Knight and defeat them. If your Knight is defeated in either of these ways then you’ll need to deploy another one to keep playing which will likely see you dipping into a pool of weaker. A defeated Knight can only be brought back using

As you encounter and battle enemy Knights, assuming you come out on top, you will start to see the health bar of your deployed Knights decline as they take damage during the encounters. This will make them much more vulnerable to attacks and also reduce your ability to take out enemy player Knights that you discover. As you defeat enemy player Knights you will also gain Bounty Points which contribute to your Ranking Score. This also adds to the points an enemy will gain by defeating you making you a much more attractive target.

Chests

King's Choice War of the Lions - Chest

The final encounter that you can have during exploration is to find a chest. These offer huge rewards when opened, but they can only be opened after the set cooldown period ends. Chests appear in a limited number at designated times with a countdown shown on the Map. If you find one, you will have a difficult time holding it as if another player defeats your deployed Knight during this time, they will steal the Chest from you. As such, it is a smart tactic to save your Best Knights for when new chests are deployed. The rewards from chests are as follows:

ChestTimeRewards
Wooden60s200x Supply Points
10x Supplies
1x Etymologiae
1x Silver Coupon
1x Basic Skill Potion
Silver120s600x Supply Points

1x Basic Talent EXP Scroll

Stamina

To explore during the the King’s Choice War of the Lions Event you must use stamina for 1 stamina per exploration. In addition, you can also change location for 3 stamina. Stamina is replenished at a rate of 5 every 30 minutes up to a maximum of 40 stamina. Alternatively, you can buy Basic Provisions for 100 Gold which recovers 5 stamina, or buy Extra Provisions in packs which also recover 5 stamina. You will need to employ at least one of these methods if you want to rank high in this stage of the War of the Lions Event. Check out our King’s Choice Guide on all the Best Ways to Get Free Gold to ensure you can afford to buy some stamina!

Donating

King's Choice War of the Lions - Supply Donation

As highlighted in the previous sections, each location on the map has different supplies/resources that can be found by attacking enemies or opening chests. In total, there are 3 different supplies available: Food, Lumber, and Rock. Once accumulated, these can be donated in exchange for a small number of event points. In addition, donations also contribute towards your Server’s Fortress Level which reduces the damage you take during the Fortress War Stage as it increases.

To increase your Fortress War Level, your Server must reach donation milestones for each resource with the level increasing once these are hit. Each high level will have an increased milestone that must be achieved for the level to be increased. The Fortress Levels are outlined below as well as their associated damage negation buff.

As well as donating event supplies, you can also donate your resources: Silver, Grain, and Soldiers. However, this only affects your Server’s donation ranking and not your overall ranking in the stage. Despite this, it is still vitally important as further damage negation buffs are granted for the Fortress War Stage based on your server’s final ranking:

Stage Tips

  • If you are stuck on an enemy Knight whom you cannot defeat then it can be a good opportunity to get some extra supplies without a stamina cost. Simply deploy your worst Knights and attack for the guaranteed attack supply rewards. Only do this towards the end of the stage when you won’t replenish much stamina and still have Knights available.
  • When selecting a location, check the info box in the top right hand of the screen once viewing it. Here you will see the number of players present and how many of those are from your side/server. If you are trying to avoid enemy players then only select locations where there are not many present. Often the locations further down the map have lower populations.
  • Chest can make a huge difference to your score and also have some other small rewards. As such, it is a good idea to hold your Best Knights back till just after they have refreshed. Keep an eye on the countdown on the map to ensure you are ready for this. You’ll also want a good supply of Stamina to ensure you can find them!
  • Diplomacy will start early in this event and if you are one of the top players in your servers you will likely be expected to be involved in negotiating with the other servers for a truce and relaying this to the rest of your server. Once agreed, all players should avoid attacking Knights from this Server and you will also agree to target the same servers during the Fortress War Stage.
  • Ensure you rank in the top 100 for your Server during this stage as only those players will take part in the Fortress War Stage. Although in the Ranking menu, you are only shown your placing amongst all players in the event, dividing this by 5 (the number of servers) can give you a rough idea of where you place in your server.
  • Work with your Server when chests spawn by agreeing on a target location. At the right time, you should all go to this spot and work to clear any enemy players from the area, allowing you to have free reign on all the chests. It is very difficult to hold on to a chest as a solo player.

Fortress War Stage

King's Choice War of the Lions Fortress War Stage - Map

All players who finish in the top 100 for their respective Server in the War of the Lions Supply Reserves Stage will qualify for the Fortress War Stage. This is where the PvP begins, pitting all the servers against each other over 3 days as they try to destroy each other’s fortresses that they built up during the previous stage.

Selecting Deployed Knights

King's Choice War of the Lions Fortress War Stage - Deployed Knights

Before you start attacking the Fortresses of other Servers, you must first select your deployed Knights for each day of the event. Each day you must select a different Knight to be your attacker and another to be your defender. Your attacking Knight will be the one you use to attack the defending Knights of enemy fortresses whilst your defending Knight will protect your own fortress. No Knight can be selected more than once during the event, therefore you will need 2 different Knights for each day of the event for a total of 6 over the 3 days. Make sure you have built up enough of your Best Knights to ensure you have enough firepower to place well!

When selecting the Knights you wish to use each day of the event and in which role, it is useful to understand what Knight Attributes are important to be looking at for this event. For your attacking Knights, all you care about is how much damage they do which is calculated as the sum of all their attributes. It is recommended to pick the 3 Knights from your roster that have the highest number of total attributes for this role as you will gain points based on their damage.

For your defending Knights, all you care about is their HP as they do not fight back, they simply stand there as tanks, taking blows for the Fortress. Their HP is determined as 3 times their total attributes. Here, it is best to pick your next 3 Best Knights in terms of total attributes. Of course, you can decide to send a stronger Knight to defend for the glory of the Server, but this will heavily hamper the amount of damage points you will gain as no points are gained from defending.

Attacking

King's Choice War of the Lions Fortress War Stage - Attacking

Once you have selected your deployed attacking and defending Knights, it will be time to start laying siege to the enemy fortresses. Each day of the event, you will take control of the attacking Knight you selected for that day. Simply select the fortress you wish to attack and click on the Provocation button. This will search for a defending Knight that has been deployed by the enemy server and allow you to attack them.

When attacked you will deal damage equal to your Knights total attributes and you will receive points equal to the damage you dealt. However, the damage is reduced slightly by any damage negation buffs that the target Server gained during the Supply Reserves Stage. If you defeat them in 1 hit then you will receive the points that were equal to their remaining HP. Defending Knights do not fight back so you do not need to worry about being attacked yourself.

Each server has a total of 100 Knights defending it each day as selected by the Server’s players. Each of these Knights has 15 lives before they are taken from the board and once all 100 Knights have lost all 15 of their lives, the fortress is destroyed. Once a fortress has been destroyed, you will be unable to attack it again until it has been reconstructed. If you are attacking a fort that has been destroyed previously, then you will receive a reduced number of points. This effect resets each day.

  • Destroyed Once: Individual points are reduced by 10% and Server Points are reduced by 25%.
  • Destroyed More Than Once: Individual points are reduced by 40% and Server Points are reduced by 25%.

Legendary Heroes

For some Gold, you can recruit a Legendary Hero to fight in place of your deployed Knight. Each time they are bought, they are able to launch 15 attacks before you must either buy another 1 or return to using your deployed Knight. They will typically have much higher damage than your deployed Knight and are a great way to increase points if you feel you need it.

Conqueror Legions

King's Choice War of the Lions Fortress War Stage - Conqueror Legions

From time to time, after defeating a defending Knight, you will be given the chance to hire Conqueror Legions. These cost 1,000 Gold and when bought will lead 24 attacks against all enemy fortresses and deal damage based on the attributes of your deployed attacking Knight. This can be a huge boon to your total points if bought. Check out our guide to Free King’s Choice Gold to ensure you have enough for when this event comes around.

Rally Horn

King's Choice War of the Lions Fortress War Stage - Rally Horn

During the event, each server will have a player designated as their Vanguard for the event who will be the player who has the strongest Knight. They are in charge of organizing your Server’s attacks and will mark an enemy fortress with a Rally Horn where they want all players to focus their attacks. This will often be determined via negotiations with other Servers whom your Server may have formed pacts with for the duration of the event. It is also worth highlighting that you receive a 15% point buff for attacking the marked fortress so you should always do this!

War Bugle

The last thing you need to know for attacking in this King’s Choice War of the Lions Guide is what the War Bugle is and how to get more. Basically, this is your stamina for the event, with 1 consumed each time you launch an attack. They are replenished at a rate of 1 every 12 minutes up to a maximum of 20 at a time but can also be bought. Indeed, you can buy 20 Basic Bugle Supply each day for 100 Gold each, with each 1 containing 2 War Bugles. Alternatively, you can buy Adv Buggle Supply from packs that each contain 3 War Bugles in them. To place well in War of Lions, you will likely need to employ at least one of these methods so that you can make extra attacks for points.

Reconstructing and Defending

King's Choice War of the Lions Fortress War Stage - Reconstruction

As touched on in the previous sections, the Knights you deploy as the defenders will be in charge of the defense on each of their respective days. You do not actually controll them in any way, with them instead taking their place as defensive tanks in front of your fortress automatically. In total there will be 100 defending Knights for each fortress, one for each of the Server’s qualified players, with each of those Knights having 15 lives. Once all 100 Knights have been defeated 15 times, the fortress will be destroyed.

Whilst a Fortress is destroyed it cannot be attacked, however, it also means that the players from that destroyed fortress cannot make attacks. Therefore, it is a priority to get it rebuilt ASAP! It will automatically start rebuilding with each player also able to help speed it up once for free. It can also be sped up using Provisions which can be bought in packs.

Rankings and Rewards

Lastly in this King’s Choice War of the Lions Guide, it is time to go over the rewards you can expect from ranking during this stage. In particular, there are 2 separate rankings where rewards will be available: Individual and Server. Individual rewards contain the best rewards in terms of volume, with a lot of Knight Edicts, Equipment, and Aura Items available to be won, hence why we recommend selecting your Best Knights for attack over defense, with Titles also available to be won. However, the Server rewards are also decent, with a lot of Prestige and Lover Gifts also on the line to be won.
