Working in a team of 3 you will earn rewards based on both your team performance and your individual performance, giving you 2 chances to earn some great rewards. In this King’s Choice School of Athens Guide, we’ll show you exactly how this event works, how to maximize your score, what rewards you can expect, and more!

What is the School of Athens Event?

King's Choice School of Athens

In the King’s Choice School of Athens Event, you will take part in debates with random opponents as you attempt to accumulate Points by defeating them. The more Points that you accumulate, the higher you will rank. By defeating higher-level opponents you are able to ascend through higher-level Debating Halls with level 3 representing the maximum level. At this level, you will face real players who can also target you. Once your HP has been reduced to 0, you will fall back down to level 2.

Joining and Forming Teams

A key part of the King’s Choice School of Athens Event is joining or creating a team. A good team is vital to doing well as you can call on team members to assist you in difficult battles or even assist them for extra points. On top of this, if your team ranks well you are in for some good rewards such as Talent Edicts and Honor Medal Chests for the Arena.

It is a good idea to plan with your Alliance to form strong teams where you can work together to be on at similar times and help each other out. This can propel you forward in both your individual and team ranking. If you decide to create your own team then you will get extra rewards as the captain.

Debate Score

King's Choice School of Athens - Debate Score

Your Debate Score is the key metric used to determine how well you do in debates as it is both the damage you do to opponents and also your own HP when defending against debates from other players. It is calculated based on your total Knight Power with any changes in Knight Power instantly reflected in your Debate Score.

In addition to Knight Power, your Debate Score can also be increased by using Gold. This can be done up to 20 times a day with each use increasing the gold cost on the next attempt. This can build up to quite a costly endeavor very quickly, but if you want to place highly you will need to go for it. It should also be noted, however, that Debate Score resets every day of the event, and you will therefore need to repeat this every day the event is running to keep pace.

Debating Halls

There are 3 levels of debating halls in the King’s Choice School of Athens Event with each one containing 6 possible encounters. In Levels I and II there will be 1 Chest, 1 Master, 2 Professors, and 2 Students that you can potentially face. At level 3 there will a Myster Lord, 1 Master, 1 Professor, 2 Students, and 1 Chest. However, it should be noted that at each level, the HP of the Professors, Masters, and Students will increase. Whilst this does make each level progressively more difficult, it does also mean more points for beating them.

Upon clicking Explore one of these potential opponents will be selected at random. Chests give you a small reward with the Students, Professors, and Masters representing your debate opponents. Beating a real player will grant you a certificate which is used to determine your team ranking. Each day of the event the levels will reset with you starting again from level 1.

Debate Battles

The Students are the easiest opponents with the lowest HP whilst the Masters are the hardest opponents with the Highest HP. As you ascend the Debating Hall levels, each of these opponents will see their HP increase to create a more difficult challenge. To defeat an opponent you simply need to have a higher debating score than their HP. If you fail to defeat them in 1 go you must then wait 3 hours before you can debate them again or click to Avoid them and move on to your next opponent.

The points you receive from each battle will depend on the target and what debate hall level you are on. If you fail to defeat one of the above targets, you will receive individual points equal to the proportion of their HP that you took off. In addition to getting points for defeating a target, there are also bonus team points paid out to all members. Points received for each target are found in the table below.

Marking

Using the Mark function is crucial to the team aspect of the event. It allows you to mark an opponent that you were unable to defeat so that your teammates can assist and attempt to beat it for you. If a teammate does defeat your marked opponent, you will receive a small amount of Event Points and they will receive some too. Attacking a Marked target does not cost your teammates any stamina.

Once an opponent has been Marked, and you have taken your turn at trying to beat it, you can move on to the next target with the Mark remaining for your opponents. This allows you to keep playing without needing to wait 3 hours for another go at the same debate. All players start the event with one slot for Marking opponents, but this can be increased up to 4 slots by spending Gold.

Stamina

King's Choice School of Athens - Stamina Items

You start the event with 30 stamina with 1 consumed each time you explore. These are replenished at a rate of 1 every 6 minutes with a maximum of 40 possible to be held at any one time. Alternatively, Stamina Elixir which contains 5 Stamina can be bought for 100 Gold, or Stamina Feast, which also contains 5 Stamina, can be bought in the Item Store / Limited Time Packs.

Ascending

King's Choice School of Athens - Ascension

The main goal when playing the King’s Choice School of Athens Event is to reach level 3 and earn some certificates for your team by defeating other real players. However, this will take quite a lot of stamina with you required to defeat 15 Masters or Professors to Ascend. You have a 50% chance of getting one of these opponents each time you explore and therefore it should take, on average, 15 Stamina to Ascend. Upon ascending, any opponents you have marked will be cleared.

Alternatively, you can also use 3 Eurekas to instantly ascend to a new level. Unfortunately, these are only available in Truth Scrolls which can only be unlocked by buying packs. Scrolls will be covered in greater detail in a later section of this King’s Choice Guide.

At Level 3 you will start to face real players who can be defeated in return for Event Points and Certificates. However, you can also be targeted and when your HP reaches 0 you will fall back to Level 2 with your ascension progress reset. Upon first entering Level 3 you will have 2 minutes of protection when other players can’t attack you but you can attack them. Make this time count as you could quickly be defeated when the time is up. It is a good tactic to save up your stamina to 40 before ascending to level 3 and using it all up in this protection time.

How to Get Certificates

Although your individual ranking is based on earning points from Debate Battles, your team ranking is based on something completely different, the number of Certificates your team has accumulated. These are actually quite difficult to accumulate and many teams won’t even make it. There are basically 2 ways to get them:

  • Each time you ascend to level 3 you will be granted 2 Certificates.
  • Upon defeating another player, you will be granted 1 Certificate.
  • However, you will also lose 1 Certificate if you are defeated and sent back to level 2.

Event Scrolls

King's Choice School of Athens - Truth Scroll

During the event, you have the chance to discover Truth and Wisdom Scrolls upon defeating an opponent. Wisdom Scrolls can be opened using Ordinary Inspiration whilst Truth Scrolls can be opened using Divine Inspiration. Upon opening you will be granted a random reward that can include event bonuses such as the following:

  • Debate Buff – the next time you debate an opponent you discovered, your Debate Score buff will increase by 50%.
  • Point Buff – the next time you debate an opponent you discovered, your point yield will be doubled.
  • Eureka – 3 of these can be used to ascend to the next level.

Truth Scrolls are easiest to open as Ordinary Inspiration can be found by defeating opponents. and as such the items found within these are quite average. Wisdom Scrolls are better but require Divine Inspiration to be bought for real money to be opened.

Athenian Wisdom

Athenian Wisdom is the currency of the School of Athens Event and can be spent in the event store on rare items. If you have a high debate score this will quickly accumulate and see you able to purchase some of the following:
