King’s Choice Knight Guide

Knights are at the center of everything you do in King’s Choice, from increasing your State Power to placing well in Events like Chessboard, Knights Parade, and School of Athens. However, to get the most out of them you need to know who the Best King’s Choice Knights are and exactly how they work. In this King’s Choice Knight Guide, we will take a look at all this and more. Make sure to also check out our King’s Choice Tips for more help in getting ahead!

How to get Knights

King's Choice Knight Guide - Exchange

On first starting King’s Choice you begin with a few low-ranking Knights and will likely begin by focusing on upgrading Greg who will be the best you have. However, you will quickly outgrow these Knights and want to find some better ones to work with. There are several ways to get Knights in King’s Choice and thankfully most of these are completely viable for free players as well! The below list outlines all the methods:

  • Recommendations – these are gained when you increase your level. You are given the choice of 3 different Knights to pick for your roster.
  • VIP – by completing the daily activities or spending money you gain VIP points which upgrade your VIP level. At each VIP level, you will unlock a new Knight or Lover for your account.
  • Exchange – items such as Holy Swords and Shields of Glory can be acquired by competing in events and placing well. Accumulate 10 of these and they can used to unlock rare Knights and improve their Aura.
  • Philosopher’s Stone – this item is gained by spending money on Daily Packs and can be used to unlock the Knight called Roger Bacon. However, he is generally not recommended to use as there are much better Knights available from the Exchange which can be done for free.

Star Level

Each Knight has a Star Level which can be used as an indicator of how good they are alongside their Talents and Aura. Typically you’ll want to focus on those Knights that have the highest Star Level in your roster. They begin to get Aura’s at Star Level 5 with the max Star Level being 6.

Attributes

King's Choice Knight Guide - Attributes

Each Knight has 4 different key attributes that determine how good they are in different scenarios. Increasing these attributes also affects the total for each of them at your total account level which again helps you achieve different things. The 4 Knight attributes are as follows:

  • Strength – higher strength means fewer soldiers consumed in each stage.
  • Intellect – higher intellect means more Silver earned during collection.
  • Leadership – higher leadership means more Grain earned during collection.
  • Charisma – higher charisma means more Troops earned during collection.

Each Knight will also have an attribute focus which can be seen by a glowing icon on their attributes when viewing their Info page. This is determined by their Talents and sees the focus attributes grow at a faster rate than the others. As mentioned in our King’s Choice Beginner Tips, you should focus on just one attribute for each of your main Knights that is determined by this focus.

The simplest way of improving your attributes is by using Attribute Books. There are 5 different types with each improving 1 of the 4 attributes while 5th will improve a random one. They can be obtained in Events, by completing Daily Activities, and as Achievement Rewards.

Level and Rank

On first getting a Knight in King’s Choice they will be at level 1 and this is increased by spending Silver. Each their level is increased, they will gain a certain number of attributes that are determined by their Talents, Aura, Lovers, and more! It is also worth noting that levels can only be upgraded to a certain point depending on their Rank. As outlined in the table below, there are a total of 8 Ranks which can see a Knight’s level increased to 500.

RankMax Level
Housecarl100
Novice150
Iron200
Bronze250
Silver300
Golden350
Platinum400
Diamond500

Once you reach the level cap for a Rank, you then need to increase the Knight’s Rank to level them further. This is done by using Knight Equipment in increasing numbers of quality and number. You will gain a large number of Novice Equipment from events and these can be composed together up to Diamond Equipment. You need 3 pieces of each piece of equipment to compose them into the next quality up. Check out our King’s Choice Equipment Guide and Calculator for more details.

Talents

King's Choice Knight Guide - Talents

Each Knight will have a certain number of Talents in each of the 4 attributes which also determines the attribute that they are most proficient in. Each Talent will range from 1 Star to 6 Stars with higher Star Level Talents improving your Knight the most each time they are leveled. You should increase the Talent that the Knight is best at which can be done in 3 different ways:

  • Talent Edicts – a chance to improve the Talent based on its Star Level. An Edict will work 100% of the time on a 1-Star Talent and 16.6% of the time on a 6-Star Talent. Edicts are gained from events and can be composed together using 4 Edict Shards.
  • Knight Talent EXP – you can use a certain amount of Talent EXP to be guaranteed at increasing the level of a Talent. Higher Star Level Talents require more Talent EXP. Talent EXP can be gained from Talent Scrolls earned in Events, gathered in the Dragon Island, gained at the University, or won at the Knights Parade.
  • Ordinance – these can be bought in packs and must be the same Star Level as the Talent. They are guaranteed to increase the Talent level.

Each time a Talent is increased it will add a certain amount to the Knight’s Talent Score for the relevant attribute. This increases the attributes gains each time the Knight is leveled and, when it comes to Strength Talents, also increases Knight Power. It is also worth noting that each Talent has a level cap, however this can be increased by promoting a Knight to a higher level or from Mount buffs.

Skills

Each Knight has 4 Skills that aid them in Arena battles. These Skills can be upgraded to improve the buff they grant you further by using Skill Points. The number of Skill Points required increases as the Skills level increases. Skill Points can be gained by winning battles in the Arena, earned at the University, or gained by redeeming Skill Point items. The Skills each Knight possesses are always the same and are as follows:

  • Hard Puncher – increases the chance to deal additional damage in the Arena.
  • Fair Verdict – increase Critical Strike damage in the Arena.
  • Noble Etiquette – increases HP in the Arena.
  • Fearless Blade – increases attack in the Arena.

Aura

King's Choice Knight Guide - Aura

From Star Level 5 onwards, Knights can gain further buffs from their Aura. Each of these Knights has 4 Auras that they can learn and upgrade up to a maximum of 4 times. Buffs from Auras will typically improve attributes by a significant amount each time they are leveled. To upgrade the level of an Aura you will either need to collect 10 of a specific item, accumulate other Knights from their category, or upgrade their Lover.

Lovers

Most Knights have a Lover or Assistant associated with them. When you own them, you can upgrade their Power Relations to grant specific buffs to the Knight. Each one has 7 different Power Relations that will improve the Knight’s attributes each time they are upgraded.

Upgrading the Power Relation costs Lover Power Points, with an increasing amount required as the Power Relations level increases. These are gained by conducting Random Greetings and having the Lover attend the Ballroom. The number of Lover Points gained from these methods can be increased by improving the Lover’s Charm by gifting them Gift Boxes. Check out our Knight’s Choice Lover Guide for more details on these mechanics as well as a full list of all Lovers in the game.

Mounts

Once you have unlocked Mounts you can bestow any you own upon your Knights. However, each Mount can only be bestowed upon one Knight at a time and there is a 24-hour cooldown if they are removed from a Knight. The Mount will improve the Knight’s attributes that they are with based on the Mount’s Talent Level and also increase the Knight’s Level Cap. Check out our King’s Choice Mount Guide for more details on this feature.

Knight Power

Knight Power is an important metric used to measure the quality of your Knights. It is determined by the Knight’s Level, its Strength Talent, any Mount it has equipped, and any further attributes granted by Strength Books. It is used across several game modes in King’s Choice to calculate how much damage your Knight can do for example in Chessboard or Scarlet Beauty. The previous sections should have given you a good idea of how to increase this further but for more details check out our King’s Choice Knight Power Calculator.

Decor

Once you unlock the Vittorio & Co. Tailoring building you can start buying Decors for your Knights and their Lovers. These will cost either Silk or Golden Threads to unlock depending on the Decor. Once a Decor is unlocked it will change the appearance of the Knight or Lover it is associated with and also grant them buffs such as Talent level increases.

Silk and Golden Thread items can be bought in packs or obtained by taking part in events however they can take a long time to accumulate. When you spend them you also gain Decor EXP which can grant attribute buffs to all your Knights in a similar way to Decrees from the Negotiation game mechanic.

Negotiations

King's Choice Knight Guide - Negotiation

We are now coming to the end of this King’s Choice Knight Guide and as such you should now have a good idea of all the different components that make up a Knight and determine how good they are. However, before closing it it is worth highlighting one final way that Knights can be improved, but more indirectly, and that is through Negotiations.

With this feature, players set up Negotiation Tables using Negotiation Cards which up to 3 other players can also join. For each minute that you are sat at a table you will gain Scroll Points which can be spent on Decrees. There is a different Decree for each attribute that can be leveled up 30 times with each level improving that attribute of all your Knights. Check out our King’s Choice Negotiation Guide for more details on the buffs you can gain and exactly how this game mechanic works.
