Gold is the premium currency in Kings Choice, and although there are Free Ways to Get Gold the process is slow going. As such you need to be careful how you spend your gold to optimize its use and minimize any spending you may be tempted to do to get more gold. In this King’s Choice Guide, we outline 10 of the best things that you can spend your Gold in the game, from improving your Academy Capacity to ensuring you place well in certain Events, we’ve got it all covered.

University
The University should be one of the first places you choose to spend your Gold on. You will start with just 1 spot here meaning that only one Knight can be sent to study every 3 hours for Skill Points and Talent EXP. As you will know from our King’s Choice Knight Guide and Tips for Beginners, each of these is very important for both improving your Knight’s performance in the Arena and for increasing their Talent levels.
As you can imagine then, the more spots you have open, the more Knights you can send to study at a time. This can lead to huge gains to your Knight Power and State Power over time. Aim to have at least 4 Academy slots early on so you can have a Knight for Strength, Intellect, Leadership, and Charisma each studying here. Beyond this it starts to get quite expensive, for example, to open a 7th slot will cost 4,000 Gold, however, in my opinion, this is still worth it!
Banquets
In my opinion, Banquets are a hugely underrated place to spend your gold in King’s Choice. Of course, you can attend them in exchange for silver but if you want to acculate a serious amount of Banquet Points then you’ll need to start hosting them or gifting Gold when attending. Banquet Points can then in turn be spent in the Banquet Store on a few items that you should look to prioritize:
- Prestige – raise your ranking level.
- Intimacy Gifts – improve your intimacy with your Lovers.
- Rings – marry off your heirs for a State Power increase and Gold rewards in Limited-time Marriage Quests.
- Talent Scrolls – increase your Knight Power and State Power.
- Milk – upgrade your heirs faster to cycle in new ones.
Heirs
Heirs are a good place to see some consistent State Power trickle in to increase your stats across the board as more are born and married off. As such, the more heir slots you have available to you, the more you can increase this effect. A new slot can be opened by spending Gold and it is recommended to have at least 4 of these early on.
Knight Exile
Although something you will only start to focus on after a long time in the game, Knight Exile is also easily one of the best places to spend your Gold in King’s Choice. This effectively sees one of your Knights sent away from your Royal Court to never return unless you spend Gold bring them back or wait 100 days. The benefit of doing this is to remove weak Knights that you perhaps used in the early game but no longer have any use for. If they are above level 60 then they will appear in your Arena rotations which will cause you problems when trying to perform well in this game mode.
Alliance Construction
If you want to see your Alliance Grow then you need to be making use of the Alliance Construction mechanic. This can be done with Gold or Special premium items once a day that will reward your Alliance with Experience and Wealth and you with Alliance Coins. It is advised to conduct the Advanced Construction every day for 200 gold for maximum rewards. The 5 different constructions available are outlined in the following table.

Pets
Another option for spending your Gold on is Pets and this is especially relevant if you like to take part in the Pet Race Event. Indeed, by spending Gold, you can unlock further Pet slots. This gives you more options for breeding across different breeds and genders ensuring you can maximize your opportunities to breed a Pet with high stats and Bloodlines. In addition, you will be able to send more pets out to breed for Pet Collars.
Mounts
As outlined in our King’s Choice Mounts Guide, if you want to increase your chances of finding Mount Shards when on a Wilderness Adventure then you need to spend Gold on premium Foods. These include Alfalfa, Carrot, Emperor Bamboo Grass, and Wild Grapes, with each one costing 150 Gold.
Events
All events in King’s Choice will allow you to spend gold on things like increasing your power in Scarlet Beauty or allowing you to draw more cards in Texas Hold’em. However, you should look to manage carefully which ones you choose to spend gold on and how much. For example, it should only be done if you are pushing for a high rank for better rewards. There is no point doing it if it will just improve your positioning by a couple of places and see you remain in the same reward tier.
Store
In a similar vein to Events, the store is also a good place to Spend Gold on event-relevant items to improve your positioning or items that will alter your account in some way. For example, you can spend 300 Gold on a Rename Card to change your account name or spend 500 Gold on an Appearance Card to change tour account appearance and gender.
Lover Breakup
Like Knight Exile, Lover Breakup is found in the Exile Plateau and is a way to send your Lovers away from your Royal Court. This should be done on Lovers who buff low-quality Knights. The benefit of this is that you will not meet these Lovers on Patrol and see their intimacy increased when it is not needed. In addition, they will not be encountered in Random Greetings therefore ensuring they will not produce poor Heirs and increasing the chance that you will instead meet your better Lovers.
