Clash Royale Giant Guide

Giant was the first tank to be released in Clash Royale, owing to its popularity in Clash of Clans. He is a simple troop with no complex abilities whatsoever; he moves at a steady speed and targets towers and buildings. In this Clash Royale Guide, we shall discuss the Giant in-depth and learn some tips and tricks to use him smartly.

Is Giant Good in Clash Royale?

Clash Royale Giant Guide

The Giant serves as a tank, allowing support troops to take shots at the enemy safely behind him. Giants were largely used during the early seasons of Clash Royale when there weren’t as many cards. There were different strategies implemented using the Giant, through which many players rose up to become better, strategically.

The Giant costs 5 elixir, deals moderately high damage and has a large health bar. These attributes come with a lot of disadvantages as he can be taken down easily. Despite the downsides, the Giant can still be a threat to opponents if backed well. Use the right cards paired with the Giant to make the most of him. We have listed down a few Giant decks you could consider using.

How to Counter Giant in Clash Royale

  • Due to the Giant’s vulnerability in almost every field, he can be taken down by any troop that has moderate or above-moderate stats in the offense. There are numerous troops that come under this category – Barbarians, Mini P.E.K.K.A, Prince, Dark Prince, Knight, and the list goes on. Buildings also act as a distraction for Giants from the towers, thus lowering his usage rate further.
  • There are specific cards that are more effective than the rest while facing the Giant. These include the Skeleton Army, Inferno Dragon, Inferno Tower, and the Mighty Miner. The above-mentioned cards in particular drain the health of the Giant better than any other card. So, if you are up against a Giant player by any chance, these cards will have your back.
  • When the Giant is supported by support units, the Executioner is one of the ideal choices to take down the troops at the back. Once the support units target the Executioner, place a building (Inferno Tower, Bomb Tower, etc.) to pull the Giant aside. Following this trick, or anything similar to this will help you with protecting your towers.

Clash Royale Giant Tips

In this final section of the Clash Royale Giant Guide, we go through some tips & tricks that you need to keep in mind before using the Giant.

  • Need of pivotal support: Without support in any form, the Giant is as good as nothing. Sufficient support for the Giant is key to releasing his true potential as it allows him to march right towards the tower without any distractions, and can land powerful blows on the tower. Musketeer, Witch, Night Witch, and almost any troop that is used as a support unit for Golem can be used for the Giant as well.
  • High health bar: The Giant has a huge health bar, thus allowing him to live longer in the arena. The only way to take the big man down quickly is by an offensive tank, swarm troops, or an Inferno Tower. However, this should give you sufficient time to deploy the support units and protect the Giant.
  • Ease of Usage: The Giant only targets buildings and towers, and he has one motto to follow the same – Smash. Unlike the Royal Giant which is a modern version of the Giant himself, the Giant moves at a slow pace and hits the tower when he is in front of it. He does not boast any other special abilities like most other cards, hence it makes it easier for newer players to adapt to the giant convincingly.
