Clash Royale Knight Guide

Knight is undoubtedly one of the best mini tanks in Clash Royale. His ability to take heavy damage for long periods displays both his defensive capabilities and his offensive potential. In this Clash Royale Guide, we shall learn everything about the Knight – his basics, best decks, counters, and some tips & tricks to help you master this cheap tank.

Is Knight Good in Clash Royale?

Clash Royale Knight Guide

The Knight is a cheap tank that costs just 3 Elixir but still plays a huge role in Clash Royale. He is often seen in decks that average 3.4 Elixr or below and for good reason. These low-cost decks are exactly where he excels. This is due to the fact that Knight offers one of the most cost-effective tanks for cheap decks that rely on players to cycle their cards fast.

As such, his style of play suits players who prefer these inexpensive fast cycling decks. For the value that the Knight brings to the table for just 3 Elixir, he is immensely cost-effective and can eliminate the need to depend on expensive tanks to win games. For decks that average above 3.4, there are other cards such as Mega Knight, P.E.K.K.A, etc. to fulfill his role.

Best Knight Decks in Clash Royale

There is no specific deck termed “best” when it comes to the Knight, as he fits well in almost every deck. However, we have listed down a set of decks that have been used by popular Clash Royale players:

  • Knight, Archers, Skeletons, Ice Spirit, Log, Mortar, Princess, Rocket.
  • Knight, Hog Rider, Executioner, Goblins, Ice Spirit, Lightning, Log, Tornado.
  • Knight, Ice Wizard, Mega Minion, Skeletons, X-Bow, Tornado, Log, Rocket.
  • Knight, Balloon, Mega Knight, Inferno Dragon, Bats, Goblin Gang, Miner, Zap.
  • Knight, Cannon Cart, Mega Minion, Bats, Graveyard, Ice Wizard, Poison, Tornado.

Knight Evolution in Clash Royale

After the Firecracker, Royal Giant, Skeletons, and Mortar, the Knight has finally received its own Evo variant. The evolved Knight holds a monstrous amount of health, making it harder for any troop to take him down compared to his base variant.

The Evo Knight can withstand a substantial amount of damage that helps him prolong his survival in the arena. There are some exceptions which include Inferno Tower, Inferno Dragon, and Mighty Miner that can still eliminate the Evo Knight relatively faster than the rest.

To unlock the Knight’s Evo variant, you must collect 6 Knight Evo Shards. Check out our Royale Clash Evolution Guide for more details on making use of this feature.

How to Counter Knight in Clash Royale

Countering the Knight should not be looked upon as a difficult task, as his strengths come with many weaknesses as well. There are several ways to counter the Knight and next in this Clash Royale Guide, we outline exactly what they are.

  • Air Troops – The Knight focuses only on ground attacks, meaning he is at a great disadvantage when he is up against any air troop. Use cheap air troops such as the Minions or Bats to gain a positive Elixir trade.
  • Swarm Troops – Since the Knight lacks the ability to perform splash damage, he becomes vulnerable to swarm troops. These include Barbarians, Skeleton Army, Goblin Gang, and Royal Recruit. These swarm troops can eliminate the Knight within the blink of an eye.
  • Witch – One specific card that can single-handedly take down the Knight is none other than the Witch. The Witch summons Skeletons from time to time to protect herself and to build up a swarm for an offense. These Skeletons distract the Knight, allowing the Witch to keep shooting her beams at him while he attempts to get past the Skeletons.
  • Buildings – Placing the building in the center of two lanes distracts the Knight from the tower. You can either use defensive buildings such as the Tesla, Cannon, etc., or buildings that spawn troops from it, like the Goblin Hut, Barbarian Hut, Tombstone, etc.
  • Range Limitation – Dealing damage to enemy troops requires the Knight to attack the troops from close proximity. This gives an edge to those troops that attack from a distance. As such, troops like the Dart Goblin, Musketeer, Archers, etc. can swiftly take down the Knight from a distance.

Clash Royale Knight Tips

Next up in this Clash Royale Knight Guide, let’s take a look at some tips to help you use the Knight to his utmost potential:

  • Tanking Ability – The Knight’s fairly high hit points make him an ideal tank for his supporting troops. Placing the Knight in front of vulnerable or ranged troops can protect them and enhance their effectiveness.
  • Quick Cycle – The low Elixir cost of the Knight helps you to cycle through your deck quickly. This way, you achieve flexibility and adaptability to different situations and you will not have to worry about not having the right card in hand.
  • Versatile Defense – The Knight can take down several troops on his own. With just a tiny bit of support, the Knight can go up against the Valkyrie, Mini P.E.K.K.A, and many other devastating troops.
