Why you Need Leadership Commanders in Rise of Kingdoms

Leadership Commanders are the most effective at leading large armies in Rise of Kingdoms. They usually possess many talents and skills that grant buffs to their units which grant you more value the more units that are currently under their command.

Leadership Commanders are a must for any player serious about playing Rise of Kingdoms. Big KvK battles or rallies require huge armies that you must devote a hefty amount of resources and time to create. To ensure these units will not go to waste you should appoint a strong Leadership Commander to them so they might give you the most value possible in any fight you send them off to.

What Makes a Good Rise of Kingdoms Leadership Commander

Good Leadership Commanders must ideally possess as many buff talents and skills that enhance the effectiveness of their army. Enhancing defense, attack, and march speed is of great importance for big KvK battles. AoE attack skills also come in handy in such fights.

It’s important to bring units compatible with your Commander into battle. Usually their talent tree buffs all types of units, but some might have skills that only buff Cavalry, Infantry, or Archers, always double-check before going into battle. It also goes without saying that you should pretty much know your Commander inside out before using him for real combat. Practice on barbarians.

These commanders are by definition great fighters, and the best Leadership Commanders should also be masters of open-field combat. Some are better at rallies or defense, but these things usually do not require a designated Leadership Commander, while large open-field battles do.

6. Frederik I

Best Leadership Commanders in Rise of Kingdoms - Frederick I

Frederik I is a great Legendary Leadership Commander available at the tavern. He is capable of performing greatly in PVP. Even as a secondary, he is capable of leading the assault on enemy towns and garrisons because of his abilities.

He is a Commander who takes various units and uses them as his main weapon on the battlefield rather than using one particular unit as his lead. His performance as a Commander in many aspects of the game is exceptional; he exhibits a distinctive leadership style as a result of his ability in any circumstance or assignment we give him.

5. Hannibal Barca

One of the most adaptable Legendary Commanders in the game is Hannibal Barca. He is a natural leader thanks to his skills and abilities, and any unit he commands will perform far better on the battlefield.

Hannibal is a formidable commander that we may utilize in PVP, both in a rally and on an open field, and he is terrifying due to the significant debuffs placed on his enemies. For PVP, Hannibal has a lot of extra troop capacity which is always good for a Leadership Commander like this.

4. Charlemagne

Best Leadership Commanders in Rise of Kingdoms - Charlemagne

Charlemagne is a Commander specializing in mixed armies who empowers the Attack and Defenses of those rallied alongside him. He is also a Commander that is great for your resources if you plan to Rally Cities. City defenses are notorious for breaking up armies of those unprepared. One of Chalemagne’s abilities makes some of your troops wounded instead of dying.

Much like a lot of mixed armies Commanders, Charlemagne is a “jack of all trades, master of none”. This, therefore, means he doesn’t really engage with the rock-paper-scissors mechanic of Infantry, Cavalry, and Archers, thus potentially being weak against more focused armies.

3. Ragnar Lodbrok

Ragnar is yet another excellent mixed-army Commander that has great defense and attack buffs. Furthermore, he is excellent at rallies and open field battles, partially thanks to his healing-reducing effect which devastates armies with supports as they become dead weight.

2. Mehmed II

Best Leadership Commanders in Rise of Kingdoms - Mehmed II

Mehmed is among Rise of Kingdoms’ finest conquering Commanders. A versatile PVP commander that excels in the open field and raids on objectives and cities. Mehmed possesses a powerful AoE ability that can do enormous damage on up to 5 targets.

He is rather unique among all the Leadership Commanders as all his buffs focus on the offense and generating additional chances to hurt your enemies, completely forgoing defense. This is great against the more squishy targets but proves problematic against heavy infantry.

Mehmed can mobilize a lot more Troops compared to other Commanders, which enables him to change the composition of his army frequently while at the same time proving to be a difficult opponent despite often leading mixed armies.

1. Aethelflaed

Best Leadership Commanders in Rise of Kingdoms - Aethelflaed

Aethelflaed is an excellent Leadership Commander with a god-like AoE skill that deals respectable damage while at the same time debuffing the enemy’s HP, DEF, and ATK for 5 seconds. Debuffing 5 different Commanders like this brings INSANE value for your allies in KvK Wars and large-scale battles.

She grants a 10% bonus troop capacity to any Commanders joining her rally and a 20% bonus damage to her own troops if she is currently using at least 3 different unit types in her army. This all contributes to making her one of the Best Support Commanders in Rise of Kingdoms as well as one of the Best LEadership Commanders.
