Indeed, there are specific squads that stand taller than most, due to their synergy activation and the subsequent damage they can distribute among their foes. With this considered, keep reading for our full list of the Best Marvel Strike Force Villain Teams.
Hydra
Since their introduction to the game, Hydra is still a formidable opponent that should not be overlooked. This team has a number of viable options to choose from. Here, we will go through all the options and highlight our favorite Hydra team to use.
Hydra Minions
To start, there are 5 Hydra Minions to choose from: Hydra Scientist, Hydra Sniper, Hydra Rifle Trooper, Hydra Grenadier, and a Hydra Armored Guard. Each of these has there own strengths and weaknesses when used in a Hydra team which we will highlight briefly now.
- Hydra Scientist – provides +10% health for self and all Hydra minion allies including Red Skull. Also, on War Defense, Hydra Scientist removes Stun from Red Skull.
- Hydra Sniper – Hydra minion allies and Red Skull gain +15% speed, +15% crit chance, and Stealth for 2 turns on spawn. In addition, gain +10% crit chance on War Defense.
- Hydra Rifle Trooper – acquires and distributes a 10% damage boost to himself and all Hydra minion allies and Red Skull. Also grants a 60% increased chance to assist all Hydra allies with non-attack abilities.
- Hydra Grenadier – supplies minion allies and Red Skull with +25% Focus. Note, if Baron Zemo is paired with Hydra Grenadier, then he will boost himself with a +10% damage boost.
- Hydra Armored Guard – offers +10% armor to himself and all other minion allies and Red Skull.
Out of these Hydra Minion options, Hydra Armored Guard and Hydra Grenadier should always be highlighted for substitution with another Hydra Toon into the team. Hydra Armored Guard has low damage output with weak baseline abilities with Hydra Grenadier also proving to be much weaker than the other options.
Best Hydra Team

Now we understand how each of the Hydra Minions works, we can decide which will work best in a wider Hydra Villain Marvel Strike Force Team. In our opinion, an ideal squad will consist of Red Skull, Hydra Scientist, Hydra Rifle Trooper, Baron Zemo, and Crossbones.
At the beginning of the match, if Red Skull has 1 or more Hydra minions then he gains +8 Charged. Red Skull also applies Revive to any minion killed before him, and +2 Deathproof. Lastly, Red Skull can provide additional speed and damage boosts throughout the battle to all minion allies.
Pairing Red Skull with at least two of his minions is imperative. Hydra Scientist provides the heals, while Rifle Trooper provides a damage boost. Don’t forget, when Red Skull has more than one Hydra minion ally, he is allocated +8 Charged.
Zemo will provide heavy damage output and apply Ability Block to the enemy team. Crossbones is the tank and cooperates well with Zemo. If the two are paired together, Crossbones generates an additional +20% Max Health for himself.
Hydra is not most users’ favorite squad to build, and that is understandable. However, the end goal in Marvel Strike Force is to win and be a top-tier threat in any game mode entered. This Hydra team is effective for any game mode, especially War Defense. They also make a great Counter for a Heroes for Hire Team.

Black Order

The Black Order only has four members: Ebony Maw, Cull Obsidian, Corvus Glaive, and Proxima Midnight. However, each of these Black Order Toons offers great synergy with Thanos, making him the obvious fifth member of the team. The synergies gained by Thanos by each Black Order character are as follows.
- Proxima – grants Thanos the Space Stone and allies Speed Up and Focus for two turns.
- Corvus Glaive – grants Thanos the Mind Stone and gives Offense Up for two turns to Black Order allies.
- Cull Obsidian – grants Thanos the Power Stone and Defense Up for two turns. Obsidian also distributes +30% Max Health to all Black Order allies.
- Ebony Maw – grants Thanos the Soul, Reality, and Time Stone, as well as +2 Regeneration, +2 Immunity, and Deathproof for two full turns. Maw, in addition, will distribute an extra +30% Resistance against all enemy attacks.
Proxima Midnight and Corvus Glaive can initiate tag team attacks at random times during battle to eliminate and clear enemy buffs. Proxima Midnight can apply debuffs on multiple enemies, in addition to singling out an enemy and applying Stun or Slow. Corvus Glaive receives increased damage output while in stealth mode.
Cull Obsidian is the tank of the team and can clear debuffs on himself. Lastly from the Black Order, Ebony Maw, the dark sorcerer can buff his allies and debuff enemies. When a character dies, Ebony Maw will apply a barrier to his group and gain Charged.
Black Order is one of the Best Marvel Strike Force Villain Teams anybody can assemble, especially when used in Alliance War. The real issue is unlocking the complete squad. Indeed, shards for each of these Toons can only be found in the following locations:
- Thanos – farmable through Nexus 8-9.
- Corvus Glaive – Arena and Blitz Store.
- Proxima Midnight – Arena and Blitz Store.
- Cull Obsidian – Legacy III Orbs, Premium Orbs, and Gamma Raid Orbs.
- Ebony Maw – unlocked through his Legendary event: Black & Ebony.
Mercenaries

Although the Mercenary Villains are a great option for War Defense, they are still often overlooked when it comes to creating one of the Best Marvel Strike Force Villain Teams. Indeed, they are extremely powerful and can be an irritating and tiresome opponent due to their turn-meter and assist attacks.
Although there are numerous options for minions under this category, ‘the’ designated Mercenary team is as follows: Taskmaster, Bullseye, Riot Guard, Riot Lieutenant, and Killmonger. Similar to Red Skull’s role with Hydra allies, Taskmaster is the leader of this Mercenary squad.
Copycat Criminal, Taskmaster’s passive ability, initiates an assist attack on each Mercenary Villain ally’s turn, gains counterattack per Mercenary ally, and all Mercenary Villain allies also receive a spike in their damage output.
In addition to all of these benefits in one ability, if this lineup is placed on War Defense, then Taskmaster on spawn, fills his speed bar and all Mercenary Villain allies’. Taskmaster in addition will automatically apply a taunt to the enemy with the strongest damage output.
Bullseye is allowed a 25% chance to assist on any Mercenary ally’s attack and also provides +10% Crit damage to all Mercenary allies. Riot Guard is the tank of the team and diverts attacks to himself. Riot Guard does not offer any ‘standout’ abilities, but all teams need a tank to endure the majority of the enemy team attacks.
Killmonger is a solid deliverer in regard to damage contribution. Similar to the Punisher in the Defenders and Skill-Military Teams, Killmonger dishes out high-octane attacks on targeted enemies and their adjacent allies. Lastly, is the Riot Lieutenant. The Riot Lieutenant will be used as the healer of this squad. On his turn, Riot Lieutenant has a 25% chance to heal the most injured Mercenary ally 25% of their max health.
Mutants (Villains)

Mutant Villains have a plethora of options to go off of. With so many options to choose from, it really comes down to one term: synergy. A common choice for a Mutant lineup is the Brotherhood team: Magneto, Toad, Sabretooth, Blob, and Mystique. This team is anything but incompetent. With that being said, there are better options.
Our favorite Mutant Villains Team consists of Mister Sinister, Stryfe, Sabretooth, Silver Samurai, and Emma Frost. Mister Sinister can clear Heal Block, and apply Regeneration to the two most injured Mutant Villain allies while granting himself Offense Up. Sinister can also spread his positive effects to three other random Mutant Villain allies.
Next to mention is Emma Frost. Similar to Mantis from Guardians of the Galaxy, Emma is a crucial point to this team in Raids, due to the buffs she has to offer. Frost can apply Immunity to two random Mutant Villain allies while applying Slow to three random enemies.
Stryfe is the tank of this Villain squad. He is not really known to put out high levels of damage, but he is more of a defensive anchor for a Mutant Villain team. Stryfe’s highlight is when he’s paired with Mister Sinister and can steal four positive effects from his primary target and transfer them to Mister Sinister.
In addition, on his passive, Grandeur, Mutant Villain teammates receive a Speed Bar increase of +10% and +10% Focus. On top of this perk, when a Mutant Villain ally drops below 70% Max Health, he gains taunt and creates a 15% Barrier for himself.
Sabretooth will be the warrior of this lineup. Focusing on dealing high damage and applying bleed on chain attacks. Sabretooth offers a +5 damage boost to Mutant allies, and a 15% chance to attack on non-attack abilities per Marauders ally.
Silver Samurai does not offer any synergetic abilities but does receive the same ones that Sabretooth does. Furthermore, Sabretooth and Silver Samurai share a Weapon X tag and the Mutant Villain tag, which allows them to engage in more offensive assists and apply Defense Up for each other.
