Pokemon Unite Lucario Guide and Build

In this Pokemon Unite Guide, we take a closer look at the All-Rounder Pokemon, Lucario, checking out his moveset and recommending some of the best builds for him. He is a beloved Pokemon, an instant classic from Gen 4 and fondly remembered for his cool design and roles in both the anime and movies from the Pokemon franchise.

His transition into Pokemon Unite was a huge event and he was seen in the vast majority of matches for the first few weeks that he was in the game. Keep reading for our detailed build guide and a few tips on how to play with Lucario, such as his best lane and game strategy, in order to maximize your win rate.

Is Lucario Good in Pokemon Unite?

Lucario is an All-Rounder Pokemon who can use his moves to take control of his lane early on. Indeed, he can do this in all situations in these early stages: score points, capture wild Pokemon, make knockouts and get out of sticky situations. To secure wild Pokemon for your squad, use Meteor Mash to push them into your side or your teammates.

To secure knockouts early on in the game, make use of Quick Attack’s vast range and tremendous damage. When his HP reaches a particular level, Lucario’s passive ability, Steadfast, grants him an emergency shield. This increases Lucario’s overall survivability since it makes it hard to defeat him in the early game. Using this effect in conjunction with Focus Band triggers increases Lucario’s already strong defense.

By meeting specific requirements, you can reset the cooldowns for Extreme Speed and Power-Up Punch. Using Lucario’s Unite Move into a group of enemies is recommended before starting a battle because doing so in the middle of a team fight might leave you vulnerable.

You can boost your chances of success by aiming it from a distance or while hiding in the grass. After using your Unite Move, your next Power-Up Punch will inflict extra damage, or, if using Extreme Speed, all foes touched will be marked. Regardless of your upgrade choice, use this buffed-up attack wisely.

To level up rapidly, capture as many wild Pokemon as you can. If you have Attack Weight, earn points to stack its damage benefit. When you’re in the bottom lane to prioritize collecting more experience. Use Quick Attack and Meteor Mash to try to gain early kills.

Reach level 7 to obtain Bone Rush or Close Combat before the Boss Pokemon spawn. Assist your teammates in securing Regieleki and/or Regice, Registeel, or Regirock. At level 9, you will receive Aura Cannon. Continue farming until you acquire Extreme Speed or Power-Up Punch.

Reach level 13 before Rayquaza spawns for a fully-upgraded moveset. Make sure you have Aura Cannon accessible when Rayquaza spawns. Assist your friends in winning a team fight so they may capture Rayquaza. Alternatively, try to snipe Rayquaza by utilizing a well-timed Aura Cannon. It cannot be overstated just how much pressure and team fight utility Aura Cannon has.

Pokemon Unite Lucario Best Build

Lucario’s passive ability is Steadfast. When the Pokemon drops below half of its maximum HP it will gain a shield and increased movement speed for a couple of seconds. This passive has a cooldown of 60 seconds.

Lucario’s basic attacks become boosted every third strike. This Pokemon’s boosted attacks make him attack twice, once with a normal basic attack, and then immediately followed up with a weaker hit that has extended range and throws enemies in the air. The first move Lucario gains is Quick Attack. Lucario dashes in the designated direction, damaging all enemies he passes through.

Move 1 Upgrade Options

The first upgrade option for move 1 is Extreme Speed. Lucario dashes forward, damaging all enemies hit and healing Lucario for each enemy hit. Once you make contact with the enemy the cooldown of this move resets completely, this won’t work on the same enemy for the next 10 seconds. The next attack after this move is an AoE strike.

The other upgrade option for move 1 is Power-Up Punch. Lucario charges up before releasing a strike in a select direction, damaging and stunning the first enemy hit. This move deals more damage based on the enemy’s missing HP.

Both moves are good depending on the situation. Power-Up Punch is better suited if you want to deal the most damage possible, while Extreme Speed offers superior mobility.

Move 2 Upgrade Options

Moving on, we have the second move which is Meteor Mash. Lucario punches in a fan shape in the select direction, damaging and knocking enemies back.

The first upgrade option for move 2 is Bone Rush. Lucario rapidly strikes enemies around him with a bone, dealing damage up to 6 times. After 6 strikes Lucario throws the bone shoving enemies and dealing damage. You can then reactivate Bone Rush again to teleport to the bone. Hitting an enemy with this move resets the Extreme Speed cooldown on that target.

The second upgrade is Close Combat. Lucario rapidly punches, damaging enemies in a fan-shaped area in front of him multiple times, restoring a bit of health for every hit. Lucario’s next basic attack after the move will have increased range and cause him to dash to his target.

Both moves are once again fine. But Bone Rush should always be paired up with Extreme Speed, due to their synergy with each other. While Close Combat works better with Power-Up Punch. The latter combo has a higher win rate by a tiny bit, but the former is way more popular among the players.

Lucario’s Unite Move

Lucario gains Aura Cannon at level 9. It causes the Pokemon to launch a large projectile that speeds up as it travels. It can hit each enemy an infinite number of times as long as they are touching it. Usage of Aura Cannon empowers your next Power-Up Punch or Extreme Speed.

Lucario’s Best Skill Loadout

The best Lucario loadout is pairing Power-Up Punch with Close Combat. This loadout offers the best damage output Lucario can achieve while sacrificing mobility. Pairing Bone Rush with Extreme Speed is also worth noting, as it provides a more balanced and varied build.

Best Held Items for Lucario in Pokemon Unite

The best option for Lucario’s battle item in Pokemon Unite is the X Attack. If you elect to play the Power-Up Punch and Close Combat loadout all you will have to offer your team is raw damage output.
