However, like his namesake from the wider franchise, Machamp is actually highly effective in Pokemon Unite. This guide will let you in on a few tricks you can pull with Machamp, as well as which builds to run, to maximize your win rate with this Pokemon. Stick around and find out if Machamp is the character for you!

Is Machamp Good in Pokemon Unite?

Pokemon Unite Guide - Machamp Moveset

Even at the beginning of the match, Machamp has a lot of damage. Enemies may be run down with a swift Karate Chop and Bulk Up. Early on, try to put pressure on your adversaries and engage in combat, but watch out for going too far into the enemy team’s side of the map.

Machamp is immune to stuns and other harmful status effects, but because he is less resistant than a Defender, he is still vulnerable to severe burst damage from Attackers. Given this, the best way to hit your targets and suffer the least amount of damage possible is to approach foes from the flank or the tall grass tiles.

To level up rapidly, capture as many wild Pokemon as you can. Prioritize taking Indeedees if you’re on the bottom lane if you want extra experience. Try to get kills early on, but don’t go too far. Continue scoring points if you have Attack Weight to stack its damage benefit.

Once you get Dynamic Punch or Submission, start being more aggressive. Ideally, try to unlock Cross Chop or Close Combat before or during the boss Pokemon spawn. At this time, try to fully stack Attack Weight. Secure Regieleki, Regice, Registeel, or Regirock for your friends. Obtain Barrage Blow once you reach level 9.

To chase targets, secure goals, and push lanes, stay with your team. Reach level 13 to receive a completely enhanced moveset before or at the time Rayquaza appears. When Rayquaza spawns, make sure you have Barrage Blow at the ready. Assist your comrades in securing Rayquaza by winning a team battle. When employing Barrage Blow’s second activation, capture as many foes as you can.

Machamp’s passive ability is Guts which increases his attack for a couple of seconds while being afflicted by a debuff of any kind. In addition, Machamp’s basic attacks become boosted every 3 strikes, dealing bonus damage and slowing the movement speed of any enemies caught in it.

Pokemon Unite Machamp Best Build

Pokemon Unite Guide - Machamp Gameplay

The first move Machamp gains is Karate Chop. With this, Machamp launches an attack in a cone shape in front of him, dealing damage to enemies caught in it.

Move 1 Upgrade Options

The first upgrade option for move 1 is Close Combat. For one second, Machamp launches a torrent of strikes in a specific direction, striking many times before landing a single heavy blow. Machamp can move while utilizing Close Combat and is unstoppable for the duration.

The other upgrade option for move 1 is Cross Chop. Machamp charges ahead, damaging any foes he hits. Cross Chop has a 5% greater critical-hit rate and the potential to critically strike. Cross Chop also raises the critical hit rate by 5% for three seconds on hit.

Both moves are devastating and are considered “good” but Cross Chop is just too powerful to not be picked every time. If you chose Close Combat you will still perform and still have a great chance to win the game, but the crit chance of Cross Chop, while insignificant at first glance, will win you fights you should have never won in the first place.

Not only that but the upgrade it gets at level 13 increases Machamps Attack by 2 for every auto attack landed on an opponent stacking up to 40. This makes him not only strong in the early game but also a MONSTER past level 13.

Move 2 Upgrade Options

Moving on, we have the second move which is Bulk Up. Machop gives himself a three-second boost that makes him immune to crowd control. His attack is increased by 15%, his attack speed is increased by 40%, and his movement speed is increased by 30% initially. The next basic attack of Machop after using this ability will be stronger.

The first upgrade option for move 2 is Dynamic Punch. Machamp jumps to a target spot and gains invincibility for 0.5 seconds, foes in the landing area take damage, get stunned, then are slowed for a couple of seconds. For a couple of seconds after using Dynamic Punch, Machamp’s ATK and movement speed are boosted. The next basic attack of Machamp deals bonus damage.

The second upgrade is Submission. With this, Machamp gains increased movement speed and becomes unstoppable for 5 seconds, or until his next auto attack. The auto attack in question is buffed, striking twice and knocking the adversary to the ground behind him. If this strike succeeds, Machamp gets a 5% Crit Rate increase and an increase in attack speed for the next couple of seconds.

Dynamic Punch is a MUST as it gives you a way to “dodge” damage from some powerful Unite abilities if you time it right, great damage, and AoE crowd control. All this is INCREDIBLE value for a single ability. Not only that, but Machamp deals more damage for a couple of seconds after using it, which can be combined with X Attack to stack the DPS even more.

Machamp’s Unite Move

Machamp gains Barrage Blow at level 9. For 10 seconds after activation, it speeds up Machamp’s mobility by 5%, increases his attack by 30%, his defense by 200, and special defense by 200. If used once more, it will launch a combination strike that will push and inflict damage on all enemies around them. The last strike inflicts twice as much damage as the prior blows.

Machamp’s Best Skill Loadout

The best Machamp loadout is pairing Cross Chop with Dynamic Punch. This loadout offers the best damage output Machamp can achieve while providing amazing mobility and self-buffs.
