The best guide on how to play and build Decidueye in Pokemon UNITE for Nintendo Switch and Mobile devices. Read on to find out everything about Decidueye including the best builds, Held and Battle items, move sets, as well as some general tips!
Decidueye is an extremely unusual Pokemon. We cite him as one of the Best Pokemon Unite Attackers, despite the fact it has a relatively low win rate. However, this can be attributed to the fact that Decidueye is truly hard to play correctly. Indeed, it requires a deep understanding of positioning and the Pokemon surrounding you in a fight.
This guide will let you in on a few tricks you can pull with Decidueye, as well as which builds to run, to maximize your win rate with this cool and unique Jungle Attacker. Stick around and find out if Decidueye is the character for you!
Is Decidueye Good in Pokemon Unite?
Decidueye is a dual-type grass/ghost Pokemon that attacks physically from a distance. Its swift strikes and all-around versatility are its main benefits. Decidueye performs best as a jungler in terms of laneing, while it can also play bottom lane at a reasonable standard.
You cannot kite opponents like other ranged Attackers because of your limited mobility. Additionally, due to this Pokemon’s squishiness, being cornered by two or more enemies usually necessitates a quick trip back to spawn.
What, therefore, qualifies him as one of the Best Attackers in my opinion, since he apparently has so many drawbacks? Because if you are great at decision-making and positioning, you won’t encounter such situations. It is hard to gank Decidueye without him knowing about it because of the clever use of “Shadow Sneak” in strategic locations.
He can harass other Attackers from a distance that they cannot bridge because of his extreme range thanks to “Spirit Shackle” and “Nock Nock” abilities. As a result, unlike any other Pokemon Unite Attacker in the game, our Owl sniper can support battles from a great distance, never putting himself in danger.
His alleged “weaknesses” vanish when played skillfully, but if you make mistakes, you will suffer. You may expect some fantastic returns after you master him, he only appears much weaker when you are learning him.
Pokemon Unite Decidueye Best Build
Decidueye’s passive ability is Long Reach. It deals increased damage to enemies who are far away. Decidueye increases the speed of its basic attacks each time one hits the enemy Pokemon. Every third activation of this effect causes Decidueye’s basic attacks to become empowered for a short time. Empowered attacks deal increased damage.
The first move Decidueye gains is Leafage. Decidueye sprays leaf projectiles in cone shape dealing damage to enemies hit. For a short time after using this move, Decidueye gains a buff to his basic attack speed and an overall buff to his damage.
Move 1 Upgrade Options
The first upgrade option for move 1 is Razor Leaf which summons whirling razor leaves. While active, Decidueye’s auto attack is replaced by a new auto attack that targets up to 2 additional enemies in range, as well as increasing Attack by 10% and auto attack speed. This buff lasts for 5.5s.
The other upgrade option for move 1, Spirit Shackle makes the Pokemon channel, firing a large arrow in the chosen direction afterward. You move slower while charging. The time spent charging increases the damage dealt by this ability. At maximum charge enemies also get slowed down if they are hit.
Both upgrades are interchangeable depending on the situation. If the enemies really have it out for you and focus you down in fights you should pick Spirit Shackle for the great range it offers, so you can stay away during team fights. If you don’t hit your ranged casts as often as you would like, or simply prefer to get up close with your team then pick Razor Leaf.
Move 2 Upgrade Options
Moving on, we have the second move which is Astonish. This is a sure-hit ability that deals damage and decreases the movement speed of a chosen foe.
The first upgrade option for move 2 is Leaf Storm. Decidueye creates a projectile of leaves, dealing damage to enemies and decreasing their movement speed as it passes through them. At point-blank range, it also shoves enemies away.
The second upgrade is Shadow Sneak. This creates a dark zone, home to a shadow that takes hold of the first enemy entering the zone. It deals, damage, and decreases their movement speed and defense while increasing Decidueye’s movement speed.
Shadow Sneak is a must-have in pretty much every game, as it is the single source of mobility that Decidueye has. You can use it to slow down assassins coming for you or to get away from a group of enemies thanks to the movement speed buff. Not to mention that you can foil ganks, catch enemies out of position and punish them, or call the shadow into a team fight while you take potshots at the enemy from afar. So many options!
Decidueye’s Unite Move
Decidueye gains Nock Nock at level 9. It fires a volley of 30 quills in the designated direction over a HUGE distance, dealing damage to the first enemy in the line of fire. After launching the 30 quills, Decidueye finishes off with one last big one that pierces all enemies in the line of fire (targets below half HP take more damage from the last quill). While using its unite move Decidueye cannot be stunned, disabled, or hindered.
Decidueye’s Best Skill Loadout
The best Decidueye loadout is pairing Shadow Sneak with Spirit Shackle. This loadout is great for controlling the battlefield from a distance with Spirit Shackle and bailing out with Shadow Sneak when an enemy approaches your position. Decidueye is truly a “sniper”, capable of finishing off prey from a great distance thanks to Nock Nock.
Best Held Items for Decidueye in Pokemon Unite
Muscle Band and Attack Weight are a great combo to further improve Decidueye’s already insane DPS. Throw in a Float Stone for some mobility and a great way to reposition when out of combat. Check out our Pokemon Unite Item Guide for more details on the best held items to use.
Best Battle Items for Decidueye in Pokemon Unite
The best option for Decidueye’s battle item in Pokemon Unite is the X Speed or Eject Button. Decidueye has damage covered by his base kit, but he desperately needs a “panic button” for emergencies. X Speed and Eject Buttons are great for when the enemy gets the drop on you when Shadow Sneak is not available. Check out our Pokemon Unite Item Guide for more details on the best battle items to use.
