Is Haakon Haraldsson a good general in Evony?

Haakon Haraldsson is an excellent General with a huge amount of versatility alongside massive buffs right out of the box. His Special Skill, Haakon the Good, builds a solid foundation for this with a huge 50% buff to the HP and attack of Mounted Troops and a further 40% to the defense of Mounted Troops and Ground Troops. On top of this, he has no Skill Book restrictions, allowing you to get his attack up to 75% for Mounted Troops right away. The buffs across his kit are mostly active in all situations, making him a great choice as your Mounted Defense General too. Finally, due to his Ground Troop buffs, he can also make an interesting choice for running a mixed Mounted and Ground march though we do prefer him as a pure Mounted General.

Haakon Haraldsson – Special Skill

Haakon the Good

Increases mounted troops’ attack and HP by 50% and increases ground troops and mounted troops’ defense by 40% when General is leading the army.

• 2 Star – Attacking Troop Death into Wounded Rate +8%.

• 4 Star – Ground Troop and Mounted Troop Defense +10% and HP +10%.
• 5 Star – Mounted Troop Attack +30%, Mounted Troop Defense and HP +20%.

Mounted Defense

This build focuses everything on a huge mounted troop defense. It is only useful in certain scenarios, such as when getting attacked by a heavy ground march.

Big Prey Hunter

This build is ideal for players who are looking to take down big monster prey. It sacrifices everything in favor of mounted attack and march size via equipment refines and skill books. This build will ensure you do maximum damage to boss monsters on the first hit. This will minimize your losses and allow you to take on higher-level bosses for better rewards.

Looter Hunter Hybrid

This build will allow you to take down big boss monsters whilst also maximizing your loot return. It replaces the march size skill book with the luck skill book to increase the double-item drop rate. This will of course decrease your damage but the double drops are good compensation.

Mounted PvP

Mounted PvP can be very useful in the early and late stages of the game. Early game, players will have huge, mounted marches which you can destroy with your higher-mounted buff. Late game you will start to come across keeps set up with ground troop defenses, mounted troops annihilate them. This build will maximize your mounted attack and speed for a mounted PvP march.
