Revelation of Maya Overview

The mysterious Mayan civilization arrives in Evony through the Revelation of Maya Event, challenging players to explore ancient pyramids, uncover hidden secrets, and earn valuable rewards. As with all things in Evony, this event isn’t without its challenges. Players must overcome powerful Mayan enemies to progress. Points are earned by advancing through the stages, entering portals, and defeating these foes. Along the way, you may encounter special buffs and ally Generals who can aid you in your quest to complete all 20 stages. In this Evony Guide, we delve into the various elements of the Revelation of Maya Event and provide insights to help you succeed.
Selecting Generals
Next up in this Evony Revelation of Maya Guide let’s take a look at the role Generals play during the Event. In particular, at the start if the Event you must select 5 Generals from your roster and assign them a march. Before selecting your Generals, it is worth understanding which of their buffs are active during the event, and those which are not:
- Basic attributes take effect meaning those Generals that are fully cultivated will benefit most. However, attribute buffs from Dragons do not take effect.
- Skills, Specialties, and Skill Books are also active, so selecting those Generals that have these upgraded will also help.
- Ascension Skills will also work during this event so if you have any Generals with these then they can be worth selecting.
- Buffs from Equipment, Civilization Equipment, and Research do not take effect.
Although the above are all important factors, as mentioned in our Revelation of Maya Tips, further down in this Event Guide, March Size plays a huge role due to the way the buffs stack as you play through the stages. Therefore, try to select your best Generals that also have March Size Buffs either through Skill Books or Special Skills and Specialties. Use our Evony General Comparison Tool to identify these Generals.
Lastly, when selecting the March for each General, there is no need to be too clever with Troop Type layers as you would use in PvP. Instead, treat this event like you were attacking just Monsters and select full marches of Siege Machines or Mounted Troops. You will also notice that all troops will be T15.
All The Stages

In total, there are 20 stages that you can complete for maximum points during the Evony Revelation of Maya Event. Of course, this is pretty tricky to achieve and you will still points towards your final ranking even if you don’t achieve this. In Stage 1 you select 5 Generals from your roster and assign them a T15 march they will make use of during the event. To move to the next stage you must find a Portal by removing fog from the map. However, sometimes you will locate enemy Mayans blocking your path who you must defeat in order to move forward. In addition, you may also find other buildings that may help or hinder you during the event.
Defeating Mayans, moving through stages, and occupying buildings, will all contribute towards increasing your points total. Stages become progressively more difficult as you move through them. Some stages can be considered special with fixed encounters/attributes as follows:
| Stage | Notes |
|---|---|
| 1 | Return Stage Gold Buff |
| 3 | Return Stage No Enemies Life Stream, Mayan Calendar Stone, or Mayan Market |
| 5 | Mayan Priest Only |
| 8 | Return Stage No Enemies Life Stream |
| 10 | Mayan Priest Only |
| 11 | Gold Buff |
| 13 | Poisonous Fog |
| 14 | Return Stage No Enemies Life Stream |
| 15 | Poisonous Fog |
| 16 | Poisonous Fog |
| 17 | Mayan Priest Only |
| 18 | Return Stage No Enemies Life Stream |
| 19 | Mayan Guard and Mayan Priest Only |
| 20 | Mayan Priest Only |
As you may have noticed above, some stages have the attribute of a Return Stage. This essentially means you can return to them if you don’t like your progress after that point. However, it will reset everything you achieved after that point. In addition, you can only return to the last one you passed or all the way back to stage 1. Making use of this feature is vital for maximizing your points due to the RGN of the buffs you gain.
Buildings You Can Encounter

As mentioned in the previous section, you must find the Portal building in order to move on to the next stage. However, there are several other buildings you can find all of which have different effects. These are outlined in the table below:
| Building | Description |
|---|---|
| Portal | Killing the Mayan Priest will reveal the Portal which you can enter to move to the next stage. |
| Typhoon Totem Tower | Consume 10% of all troop slots troop amount to occupy this building. Deals damage equal to 40% of the target’s maximum HP when attacking in this level after occupying this building. |
| Poisonwood Totem Tower | Reduces all troop slots’ troop amount by 5% for each 1 fog(s) dispelled when this building exists. This effect will disappear when any fog around this building is dispelled. Consume 10% of all troop slots troop amount to occupy this building. |
| Crescent Totem Tower | Consume 10% of all troop slots troop amount to occupy this building. Increases all troops’ attack, defense, and HP by 25% after occupying it. |
| Mayan Camp | Select a General from a choice of 3 to join your roster for the event. Each General has different troop compositions in their march. |
| Life Stream | Choose from a selection of 3 different healing buffs. |
| Mayan Calendar Stone | Get a random buff. |
| Mayan Market | Spend Mayan Gold you have earned on buffs and Runes. |
At this point, it is also worth mentioning that some of these buildings will give you points for occupying or clearing them. If you are going for the maximum points score then this is a necessity. However, please note that you will not receive any points if you destroy the building with the Holy Wrath Rune. Points gained from occupying or clearing buildings are as follows:
- Dispel Poisonous Fog – 5 Points
- Occupy Crescent Totem Tower – 20 Points
- Occupy Typhoon Totem Tower – 50 Points
- Occupy Poisonwood Totem Tower – 100 Points
Defeating Enemies

There are 3 different types of enemies you can encounter when clearing fog. Defeating them grants points and Mayan Gold with the possibility of also gaining a Rune or buff. Please note that points are still gained for killing with the Justice Rune. The points gained for defeating each one does not increase at each stage and is as follows:
- Mayan Warrior – 10 Points
- Mayan Guard – 20 Points
- Mayan High Priest – 40 Points
As you progress through the stages, their power increases, making it increasingly difficult to defeat them. This is summarised in the table below:
| Stage | Mayan Warrior | Mayan Guard | Mayan High Priest |

How to Get a High Score in Revelation of Maya
Next up in this Evony Revelation of Maya Event Guide let’s take a look at some specific tips and strategies you can implement to do well. These will help for both aiming for a high score and clearing as many stages as possible.
- Focus on just one Troop Type and only select buffs that benefit them. In our experience, Siege Machines and Mounted Troops perform best in this event so pivot to the one that matches best with your Generals. This is due to the mechanics of fighting the Mayans being the same as fighting Boss Monsters with high attack stats helping you kill them in 1 round for zero wounded.
- Select your Best Generals that also have high March Size Buffs through either Skill Books or Skills. As you play the Evony Revelation of Maya Event you will gain higher and higher buffs and this will scale much better with a higher troop march. Use our Evony General Comparison Tool to compare your Generals and find the ones with the highest March Size.
- Accumulate as many healing Runes as you can and save them for the later stages. These will help you push through those final tough enemies.
- If you are pushing to just complete all stages over a high score then avoid occupying Totems and clearing Poisonous Fog. However, if you are aiming for a high score then you will want to clear these.
- Only use Life Stream at the end of a stage once all Mayans have been defeated. This ensures the best gains from the healing buff.
- Do not select the buffs Desperate Measures or Hand of Death as these prevent you from healing which is vital for both completing all stages and achieving a high score.
- When selecting a General to recruit from Mayan Camps, take a look at their troop compositions and select the one that has the highest troop number of the type you are focused on.
- If you want a high score, make sure to kill all Mayans you encounter. However, if you are looking to just complete all the stages then kill all Mayans in the early stages for buffs and runes but scale this back as they become stronger in the later stages.
- In stage one keep resetting until you get the Gold Buff you want. We have found that selecting either Logistic Supply or Moneybags results in the most consistent performance.
- When selecting Purple Buffs, we recommend picking Field Hospital, Gold in Fog, Hand of Famine, Hand of Plague, Laws of Survival, Triple Lines, or Unstoppable Force.
- Buffs stack so doubling up on buffs like Field Hospital and Unstoppable Force can be extremely powerful.
- Certain combinations of buff work amazingly together so try and take advantage of this. For example, Gold in Fog will see you accumulating huge amounts of Gold allowing you to either hoard it and use it with Hand of Famine or buy Runes with it and use it with Hand of Plague.
- Make heavy use of reset saves at stages 1, 3,8, 14, and 18. If you get unlucky with the buffs after these points or with Totems then quickly revert to your last reset stage and try again. Keep doing this until you get the buffs you need for your Troop Type.
What Rewards You Can Get
Finally, in this Evony Revelation of Maya Guide let’s take a look at the rewards you can expect by taking part in this Event.
