Is King Arthur a good general in Evony?

King Arthur used to be quite a poor General that a lot of players would pick up early on and use due to being a Red Historic General despite his low rankings. However, in 2024 he received a significant Special Skill buff which added 35% attack and defense to Mounted Troop when they are attacking. Added on to his 15% March Size buff and ability to take a Mounted Attack Skill Book, this has now made him a very useful Monster Hunter in the early game. There are still better options out there but he is very useful until you pick one of them up.

King Arthur – Special Skill

An Evony General’s Special Skill is always active and requires no development. Read the description carefully to ensure it is having the impact that you expect.

Caliburn

Increases March Size by 15% when General is leading the army and increases mounted troops’ attack and defense by 35% when General is leading the army to attack.

Ascended Special Skill Buffs

Below are the additional buffs that an ascended King Arthur will receive to his Special Skill for each ascended star level.

• 1 Star – Marching Mounted Troop Attack +20%.
• 2 Star –Marching Troop Death into Wounded Rate +8%.
• 3 Star – When General is launching Alliance War, Rally Capacity +8%.
• 4 Star – Marching Mounted Troop Defense +20% and HP +20%.
• 5 Star – Marching Mounted Troop Attack +15%, Marching Ranged Troop Attack +15%.

These skills are unlocked once the Evony General reaches level 25. They can be expensive to develop, requiring Gems and Runestones. Read our Evony General Guide for more details.

The below builds outline which skill books and equipment refines you should use depending on your requirements.

Big Prey Hunter

This build is ideal for players who are looking to take down big monster prey. It sacrifices everything in favor of mounted attack and mounted HP via equipment refines and skill books. This build will ensure you do maximum damage to boss monsters on the first hit. This will minimize your losses and allow you to take on higher-level bosses for better rewards.

• Skill Books:
• Lvl 4 Mounted Troop Attack – Mounted Attack +25%
• Lvl 4 Mounted Troop HP Against Monster – Mounted HP Against Monster +45%
• Lvl 4 March Size – March Size +12%
• Equipment Refines:
• Spear – Mounted Troop Attack % x4
• Armor – Mounted Troop Defense % x4
• Boots – Mounted Troop Defense % x4
• Helmet – Mounted Troop HP % x4
• Leg Armor – Mounted Troop HP % x4

Mounted PvP

Mounted PvP can be very useful in the early and late stages of the game. Early game, players will have huge, mounted marches which you can destroy with your higher-mounted buff. Late game you will start to come across keeps set up with ground troop defenses, mounted troops annihilate them. This build will maximize your mounted attack and mounted HP for a mounted PvP march.

• Skill Books:
• Lvl 4 Mounted Troop HP – Mounted Troop HP +25%
• Lvl 4 Mounted Troop Speed – Mounted Troop Speed +20%
• Lvl 4 Mounted Troop Attack – Mounted Troop Attack +25%
• Equipment Refines:
• Spear – Mounted Troop Attack % x4
• Armor – Mounted Troop Defense % x4
• Boots – Mounted Troop Defense % x4
• Helmet – Mounted Troop HP % x4
• Leg Armor – Mounted Troop HP % x4

Looter Hunter Hybrid

This build will allow you to take down big boss monsters whilst also maximizing your loot return. It replaces HP against monsters skill book with the luck skill book to increase your double item drop rate. This will of course increase your losses against high-level bosses. However, the double drops are good compensation.

• Lvl 4 Luck – Double Items Drop Rate +18%
• Lvl 4 March Size – March Size +12%
