Is Ragnar a good general in Evony?

Ragnar’s kit gives him one of the highest Ranged Attacks in the game at a massive +200% in buffs once his Special Skill, Specialties, Ascension Skills, Covenants, and Skins are all accounted for. Of course, this can take a serious amount of spending to achieve, but nevertheless, he is an excellent choice as your main Ranged PvP General with a very OP Special Skill, Unstoppable Force, that adds 45% to ranged attack and defense and a further 35% to their HP when brings any Dragon or Spiritual Beast with him. However, it should be noted that most of his buffs are only active in attack, therefore making him a poor choice for Defense.

Ragnar – Special Skill

An Evony General’s Special Skill is always active and requires no development. Read the description carefully to ensure it is having the impact that you expect.

Please note, that this General can be ascended through the Evony General Ascending feature. Each ascended star level will add an additional buff to the General’s Special skill. Read our Evony General Ascending Guide for more details on Evony General Ascension.

Unstoppable Force

Increases ranged troops’ attack and defense by 45% when General is leading the army to attack. Increases ranged troops and siege machines’ HP by 35% when General brings any dragon or Spiritual Beast to attack.

Ragnar – Builds

The below builds outline which skill books and equipment refines you should use depending on your requirements. Alternatively, create your very own build with our Evony General Equipment and Buff Calculator.

Ranged PvP

This build is ideal for players who are very range-heavy. It sacrifices everything in favor of ranged attack whilst also topping up ranged troop HP and Defense via equipment refines. This build will ensure you do maximum damage, especially in the early game when players are quite mounted heavy.

  • Skill Books:
  • Lvl 4 Ranged Troop Attack – Ranged Attack +25%
  • Lvl 4 Ranged Troop Range Bonus – Ranged Troop Range +100
  • Lvl 4 March Size – March Size +12%
  • Equipment Refines:
  • Bow – Ranged Troop Attack % x4
  • Armor – Ranged Troop Defense % x4
  • Boots – Ranged Troop Defense % x4
  • Helmet – Ranged Troop HP % x4
  • Leg Armor – Ranged Troop HP % x4
  • Ring – Ranged Troop Attack % x4

Siege and Ranged PvP

Due to this general’s buff to both ranged troops and siege machines, it can be a good play to run a mixed march with both troop types in certain scenarios. This build will work well for these situations. Siege range is prioritized over siege attack as siege attack is already very high with the additional range giving you some extra attacks before the enemy has you in their range.
