Is Gaius Octavius a good general in Evony?

Gaius Octavius is one of the best Evony Generals for Mounted PvP and Monster Hunting. However, you will most commonly see him taking down big monsters and a PvP Mounted march is a more specialist attack for specific keep defenses.

If you set him up as a PvP Evony General, he can also do a job as a Mounted Defense General.

Gaius Octavius – Special Skill

An Evony General’s Special Skill is always active and requires no development. Read the description carefully to ensure it is having the impact that you expect.

Augustus

Increases mounted troops’ attack by 40% and ranged troops’ attack by 15% when General is leading the army to attack.

Ascended Special Skill Buffs

Below are the additional buffs that an ascended Gaius Octavius will receive to his Special Skill for each ascended star level.

• 1 Star – Marching Ranged Troop Attack +10%, Marching Mounted Troop Defense +20%.
• 2 Star – Enemy In-city Troop Wounded into Death rate +10%.
• 3 Star – March Size Capacity +14%.
• 4 Star – Marching Ranged Troop Attack +20%, Marching Mounted Troop HP +20%.
• 5 Star – Marching Mounted Troop Attack +20%, Defense and HP +15%.

The below builds outline which skill books and equipment refines you should use depending on your requirements.

Big Prey Hunter

This build is ideal for players who are looking to take down big monster prey. It sacrifices everything in favor of mounted attack and mounted HP via equipment refines and skill books. This build will ensure you do maximum damage to boss monsters on the first hit. This will minimize your losses and allow you to take on higher level bosses for better rewards.

• Skill Books:
• Lvl 4 Mounted Troop Attack Against Monster – Mounted Against Monster +45%
• Lvl 4 Mounted Troop Attack – Mounted Attack +25%
• Lvl 4 March Size – March Size +12%
• Equipment Refines:
• Spear – Mounted Troop Attack % x4
• Armor – Mounted Troop Defense % x4
• Boots – Mounted Troop Defense % x4
• Helmet – Mounted Troop HP % x4
• Leg Armor – Mounted Troop HP % x4
• Ring – Mounted Troop Attack % x4

Looter Hunter Hybrid

This build will allow you to take down big boss monsters whilst also maximizing your loot return. It replaces the march size skill book with the luck skill book to increase your double item drop rate. This will of course increase your losses against high level bosses. However, the double drops are good compensation.

• Lvl 4 Mounted Troop Attack Against Monster – Mounted Attack Against Monster +45%
• Lvl 4 Luck – Double Items Drop Rate +18%
• Lvl 4 Mounted Troop Attack – Mounted Attack +25%
• Equipment Refines:
• Spear – Mounted Troop Attack % x4
• Armor – Mounted Troop Defense % x4
• Boots – Mounted Troop Defense % x4
• Helmet – Mounted Troop HP % x4
• Leg Armor – Mounted Troop HP % x4

Mounted PvP

Mounted PvP can be very useful in the early and late stages of the game. Early game, players will have huge, mounted marches which you can destroy with your higher mounted buff. Late game you will start to come across keeps set up with ground troop defenses, mounted troops annihilate them. This build will maximize your mounted attack and mounted HP for a mounted PvP march.
