Is Zhao Yun a good general in Evony?

This Evony General is very effective when making use of mounted troops in attack. Indeed, he can be used for both Monster Hunting and Mounted PvP.

In addition to this, Zhao Yun’s Special Skill also gives Ground Troops under his command a good boost. Therefore, for players looking to utilize a mixed Ground and Mounted March, he can make a great option.

Lastly, despite his Special Skill only being effective in attack, he ranks surprisingly well as a Mounted Defense General. However, he should be used here only if you have fully maxed him out. His final specialty must be completed to be of any use here. Therefore, there are better options for Defense.

Zhao Yun – Special Skill

Undefeatable General

Increases ground troops and mounted troops’ attack by 30% and increases mounted troops’ HP by 30% when General is leading the army to attack.

Ascended Special Skill Buffs

Below are the additional buffs that an ascended Zhao Yun will receive to his Special Skill for each ascended star level.

• 1 Star – Increases Mounted Troop Attack by 15% and Defense by 10% when General is leading the army to attack.
• 2 Star – Enemy in-city Troop Wounded into Death rate +10%.
• 3 Star – When General is launching Alliance War, Rally Capacity +8%.
• 4 Star – Marching Ground Troop and Mounted Troop Defense +15% and HP +15%.
• 5 Star – Increases Mounted Troop Attack by 25% and Defense by 20% when General is leading the army to attack.

Zhao Yun – Specialities

Big Prey Hunter

This build is ideal for players who are looking to take down big monster prey. It sacrifices everything in favor of mounted attack and mounted HP via equipment refines and skill books.

This build will ensure you do maximum damage to boss monsters on the first hit. This will minimize your losses and allow you to take on higher-level bosses for better rewards.

Looter Hunter Hybrid

This build will allow you to take down big boss monsters whilst also maximizing your loot return. It replaces the march size skill book with the luck skill book to increase the double item drop rate.

This will of course decrease your damage output slightly. However, the double drops are good compensation.

Mounted PvP

Mounted PvP can be very useful in the early and late stages of the game. Early game, players will have huge, mounted marches which you can destroy with your higher mounted buff.

Late game you will start to come across keeps set up with ground troop defenses, mounted troops annihilate them. This build will maximize your mounted attack and mounted HP for a mounted PvP march.

Mounted & Ground Rush

Zhao Yun’s skills also set him up nicely for a mixed Mounted and Ground march for PvP. This is a slightly more niche attack, and you must be careful to scout your enemy before using it.

You will need to vary the ratio of mounted to ground troops depending on the defense. It relies on speed to get your troops into the action as quickly as possible to avoid too many getting picked off at range.
