Is Cheng Yaojin a good general in Evony?

Cheng Yaojin is an extremely versatile General when it comes to making use of your Mounted Troops. Indeed, he does a great job as a Mounted PvP General, a Monster Hunter, and even as a Defense General. This is all driven by his excellent Special Skill, Whirlwind Iron Axe, which adds 45% to mounted attack and a further 35% to their HP and Defense. Whilst he also gets some good buffs for Ground Troops, there are much better Ground PvP Generals for this role. Finally, it should be noted that he cannot take a Mounted Attack Skill Book. This does mean that without development he is a bit weaker than other Mounted Generals and you will need to develop his Specialties and Ascensions to get the most out of him.

Cheng Yaojin – Special Skill

An Evony General’s Special Skill is always active and requires no development. Read the description carefully to ensure it is having the impact that you expect.

Whirlwind Iron Axe

Increases mounted troops’ attack by 45% and increases ground troops and mounted troops’ defense and HP by 35% when General is leading the army.

Ascended Special Skill Buffs

Below are the additional buffs that an ascended Cheng Yaojin will receive to his Special Skill for each ascended star level.

• 1 Star – Mounted Troop and Ground Troop Attack +5% and Defense +10%.
• 2 Star – Marching Troop Death into Wounded Rate +8%.
• 3 Star – March Size Capacity +10%, Mounted Troop Attack +20%.
• 4 Star – Mounted Troop Defense +10% and HP +10%.
• 5 Star – Mounted Troop and Ground Troop Attack +20%, Defense and HP +15%.

Cheng Yaojin – Specialities

These skills are unlocked once the Evony General reaches level 25. They can be expensive to develop, requiring Gems and Runestones. Read our Evony General Guide for more details.

Big Prey Hunter

This build is ideal for players who are looking to take down big monster prey. It sacrifices everything in favor of mounted attack and mounted HP via equipment refines and skill books. This build will ensure you do maximum damage to boss monsters on the first hit. This will minimize your losses and allow you to take on higher-level bosses for better rewards.

Looter Hunter Hybrid

This build will allow you to take down big boss monsters whilst also maximizing your loot return. It replaces the HP against monster skill book with the luck skill book to increase the double item drop rate. This will of course increase your losses against high-level bosses. However, the double drops are good compensation.

• Lvl 4 March Size – March Size +12%

Mounted PvP

Mounted PvP can be very useful in the early and late stages of the game. Early game, players will have huge, mounted marches which you can destroy with your higher mounted buff. Late game you will start to come across keeps set up with ground troop defenses, mounted troops annihilate them. This build will maximize your mounted attack and mounted HP for a mounted PvP march.
