Is Marco Polo a good general in Evony?

Marco Polo is an excellent choice as either your Mounted PvP General or your Monster Hunting General. It is his Special Skill, Ride the Waves, that drives this with a huge 45% buff to Mounted Troop attack and a further 40% to their HP and defense. However, there are a couple of things you should note before committing to this General. Firstly, he is a premium General and therefore it will be difficult to pick up additional fragment to unlock his ascensions. Additionally, his final specialty has a huge 50% attack buff to Mounted Troops locked behind it, which will be very costly to unlock in terms of Gems and Runestones in order to get the most out of him Finally, be mindful that all his buffs are mostly only active when marching or attacking and therefore he does not make a good Defense General.

Marco Polo – Special Skill

An Evony General’s Special Skill is always active and requires no development. Read the description carefully to ensure it is having the impact that you expect.

Ride the Waves

Increases mounted troops’ attack by 45% and increases mounted troops’ defense and HP by 40% when General is leading the army to attack.

Ascended Special Skill Buffs

Below are the additional buffs that an ascended Marco Polo will receive to his Special Skill for each ascended star level.

• 1 Star – Marching Mounted Troop Attack +25% and HP +15%.
• 2 Star – Marching Troop Death into Wounded Rate +8%.
• 3 Star – When attacking, Mounted Troop Attack +30%, March Size Capacity +8%.
• 4 Star – Enemy Ground Troop and Mounted Troop Defense -10% and HP -10%.
• 5 Star – Marching Mounted Troop Attack +40%, Defense and HP +25%.

Marco Polo – Specialities

These skills are unlocked once the Evony General reaches level 25. They can be expensive to develop, requiring Gems and Runestones. Read our Evony General Guide for more details.

Big Prey Hunter

This build is ideal for players who are looking to take down big monster prey. It sacrifices everything in favor of mounted attack and march size via equipment refines and skill books. This build will ensure you do maximum damage to boss monsters on the first hit. This will minimize your losses and allow you to take on higher-level bosses for better rewards.

Looter Hunter Hybrid

This build will allow you to take down big boss monsters whilst also maximizing your loot return. It replaces the march size skill book with the luck skill book to increase the double-item drop rate. This will of course decrease your damage but the double drops are good compensation.

• Lvl 4 Mounted Troop Attack – Mounted Attack +25%

Mounted PvP

Mounted PvP can be very useful in the early and late stages of the game. Early game, players will have huge, mounted marches which you can destroy with your higher-mounted buff. Late game you will start to come across keeps set up with ground troop defenses, mounted troops annihilate them. This build will maximize your mounted attack and speed for a mounted PvP march.
