Is Basil II a good general in Evony?

Basil II is a very versatile Evony General that can be utilized in several great ways. You can use him as a pure Ground PvP Attack General, run a mixed Ground and Mounted march or use him to hunt boss monsters.

However, you should never use him in defense. Most of his skill and specialty buffs are only active in attack. In addition, much of his attack buff is only active from the final specialty which is very expensive to activate.

Basil II – Special Skill

An Evony General’s Special Skill is always active and requires no development. Read the description carefully to ensure it is having the impact that you expect.

Ironhanded Leader

Increases ground troops and mounted troops’ attack by 30% and increases ground troops and mounted troops’ defense by 15% when General is leading the army to attack.

Ascended Special Skill Buffs

Below are the additional buffs that an ascended Basil II will receive to his Special Skill for each ascended star level.

• 1 Star – Increases Mounted Troop and Ground Troop Attack by 10% and Defense by 10% when General is leading the army to attack.
• 2 Star – Increases Troop Death into Wounded Rate by 10% when General is leading the army to attack.
• 3 Star – When General is launching Alliance War, Rally Capacity +8%.
• 4 Star – Increases Mounted Troop and Ground Troop Attack by 10% and HP by 10% when General is leading the army to attack.
• 5 Star – Increases Mounted Troop and Ground Troop Attack by 10%, Defense by 10% and HP by 10% when General is leading the army to attack.

These skills are unlocked once the Evony General reaches level 25. They can be expensive to develop, requiring Gems and Runestones. Read our Evony General Guide for more details.

War God

• All Troops Attack +6%

Battle of Kleidion

Basil II – Builds

The below builds outline which skill books and equipment refines you should use depending on your requirements.

Ground PvP

This build is ideal for players who are very ground-heavy. It sacrifices everything in favor of ground attack, HP, and speed. This build will work well for both a ground attack march and as a Wall Defense General.

It will help your ground troops get to the enemy quicker and give them greater HP to withstand ranged attacks as they go forward.

• Skill Books:
• Lvl 4 Ground Troop Attack – Ground Attack +25%
• Lvl 4 Ground Troop HP – Ground HP +25%
• Lvl 4 Ground Troop Speed – Ground Speed +20%
• Equipment Refines:
• Sword– Ground Troop Attack % x4
• Armor – Ground Troop Defense % x4
• Boots – Ground Troop Defense % x4
• Helmet – Ground Troop HP % x4
• Leg Armor – Ground Troop HP % x4
• Ring – Ground Troop Attack % x4

Mounted and Ground PvP

This build works best for players who have a good mix of Mounted and Ground troops. It adds mounted troop HP to help the mounted troops survive the attacks from ranged troops.

The ground troops also see their HP and Speed increase in order to reach the enemy intact and fast.

• Skill Books:
• Lvl 4 Mounted Troop HP – Mounted HP +25%
• Lvl 4 Ground Troop HP – Ground HP +25%
• Lvl 4 Ground Troop Speed – Ground Speed +20%
• Equipment Refines:
• Sword – Ground Troop Attack % x4
• Armor – Ground Troop Defense % x4
• Boots –Ground Troop Defense % x4
• Helmet –Mounted Troop HP % x4
• Leg Armor – Mounted Troop HP % x4
• Ring – Ground Troop Attack % x4

Looter Hunter Hybrid

This build will allow you to take down big boss monsters whilst also maximizing your loot return. It replaces the march size skill book with the luck skill book to increase the double item drop rate.

This will of course decrease your damage output slightly. However, the double drops are good compensation.

• Skill Books:
• Lvl 4 Mounted Troop Attack Against Monster – Mounted Attack Against Monster +45%
• Lvl 4 Luck – Double Items Drop Rate +18%
• Lvl 4 Mounted Troop Attack – Mounted Attack +25%
• Equipment Refines:
• Spear – Mounted Troop Attack % x4
• Armor – Mounted Troop Defense % x4
• Boots – Mounted Troop Defense % x4
• Helmet – Mounted Troop HP % x4
• Leg Armor – Mounted Troop HP % x4
• Ring – Mounted Troop Attack % x4
