Is Barbarossa a good general in Evony?

Barbarossa makes a decent Evony Monster Hunter General and Mounted PvP General. His special skill also boosts his march size allowing you to send larger than normal armies.

He can also be purchased from the Tavern, making him a good option for low spenders. However, most buffs are only active in attack and therefore should not be used as an Evony Defense General.

Barbarossa – Special Skill

An Evony General’s Special Skill is always active and requires no development. Read the description carefully to ensure it is having the impact that you expect.

Please note, that this General can be ascended through the Evony General Ascending feature. Each ascended star level will add an additional buff to the General’s Special skill. Read our Evony General Ascending Guide for more details on Evony General Ascension.

Bloody Leader

Increases the March Size by 10% and mounted troops’ attack by 15% when General is leading the army to attack.

Ascended Special Skill Buffs

Below are the additional buffs that an ascended Barbarossa will receive to his Special Skill for each ascended star level.

• 1 Star – Marching Mounted Troop Defense +15% and HP +15%.
• 2 Star – Increases Troop Death into Wounded Rate by 8% when General is leading the army to attack.
• 3 Star – When General is launching Alliance War, Rally Capacity +6%.
• 4 Star – Marching Mounted Troop Attack +15% and Defense +20%.
• 5 Star – Marching Mounted Troop Attack +20% and HP +20%.

Barbarossa – Specialities

These skills are unlocked once the Evony General reaches level 25. They can be expensive to develop, requiring Gems and Runestones. Read our Evony General Guide for more details.

Mounted Troop Assault

• Mounted Troop Attack +10%
• Mounted Troop HP +10%

Annihilation

• March Size Capacity +6%
• Attacking Mounted Troop and Ground Troop Attack +10%

Iron Warrior

• Enemy Wounded into Death when attacking +10%

Crusaders

• Marching Mounted Troop Attack +26%
• Marching Mounted Troop Defense +26%
• Marching Mounted Troop HP +26%

Barbarossa – Builds

The below builds outline which skill books and equipment refines you should use depending on your requirements.

Big Prey Hunter

This build is ideal for players who are looking to take down big monster prey. It sacrifices everything in favor of mounted attack and mounted HP via equipment refines and skill books.

This build will ensure you do maximum damage to boss monsters on the first hit. This will minimize your losses and allow you to take on higher-level bosses for better rewards.

• Skill Books:
• Lvl 4 Mounted Troop Attack Against Monster – Mounted Attack Against Monster +45%
• Lvl 4 Mounted Troop Attack – Mounted Attack +25%
• Lvl 4 March Size – March Size +12%
• Equipment Refines:
• Spear – Mounted Troop Attack % x4
• Armor – Mounted Troop Defense % x4
• Boots – Mounted Troop Defense % x4
• Helmet – Mounted Troop HP % x4
• Leg Armor – Mounted Troop HP % x4
• Ring – Mounted Troop Attack % x4

Looter Hunter Hybrid

This build will allow you to take down big boss monsters whilst also maximizing your loot return. It replaces the march size skill book with the luck skill book to increase the double item drop rate.

This will of course decrease your damage output slightly. However, the double drops are good compensation.

• Skill Books:
• Lvl 4 Mounted Troop Attack Against Monster – Mounted Attack Against Monster +45%
• Lvl 4 Luck – Double Items Drop Rate +18%
• Lvl 4 Mounted Troop Attack – Mounted Attack +25%
• Equipment Refines:
• Spear – Mounted Troop Attack % x4
• Armor – Mounted Troop Defense % x4
• Boots – Mounted Troop Defense % x4
• Helmet – Mounted Troop HP % x4
• Leg Armor – Mounted Troop HP % x4
• Ring – Mounted Troop Attack % x4

Mounted PvP

Mounted PvP can be very useful in the early and late stages of the game. Early game, players will have huge, mounted marches which you can destroy with your higher mounted buff.

Late game you will start to come across keeps set up with ground troop defenses, mounted troops annihilate them. This build will maximize your mounted attack and mounted HP for a mounted PvP march.

• Lvl 4 Mounted Troop Speed – Mounted Speed +20%
• Lvl 4 Mounted Troop Attack – Mounted Attack +25%
